Pet Insurance

Hi

Can anyone recommend a company that provides good pet insurance - we have a puppy now.

Can you also please give me the reasons why they are so good or what I should be looking for?

Thanks

  • I'm with insuranceline. I think they're an ok company. They pay 80% of pet bills except heartworming and regular injections etc. What you should be looking for is what illnesses they DON'T cover (such as illnesses/diseases they're born with), as well as how much you have to pay (excess), how much they cover a year, as well as making sure they're a "legit" company - backed up by a big company and/or is reputable.

My dog has addison's disease, and I'm really glad I've got insurance as they paid 80% of all costs - hospitalization, medication, check-ups. He's covered for both illness and accidents, costs a bit more but better to be safe than sorry. I have also claimed on when he had ear infections.

Customer service with insuranceline is also good. Got all my inquiries answered quickly. Don't remember speaking to a machine to get to speak to a real person.

I remember seeing a comparison chart of the main pet insurance company at my vet (insuranceline was on there, but it wasn't the best. Can't remember what was though :-s). So I guess you can go to the vet and get more advice and see what they recommend.
