DANIELS CRAZY SPECIAL! Get 6 of our amazing REFRIGERATED donuts for $10 from NOW till 7pm TONIGHT!

Includes refrigerated donuts ONLY!- does it mean old stock only
Should we rather pay a bit more for fresh stock?

    • Cmon, you know the answer.

      • so not really a bargain, then if they are flogging old stock :)
would be a bargain if fresh donuts were that price

        • +5

I think by refrigerated they just mean filled donuts as opposed to “old” ones

        • @Danta: Doesn't mean they're not both old and refrigerated though.

    • It'll probably be fresher than the "donuts" they flog at 7-11.

      • +1

Define fresh? Those 'donuts' they 'flog' are 'Krispy Kremes' and are fresh daily. https://www.krispykreme.com.au/7eleven

I have a friend who works there and i confirm this is the case that they are replaced daily.

Well, thank you DrLobster's friend. My faith in 7-11 donuts has been comprehensively reinstated.

          @KaptnKaos:

          Good to hear sir! ;)

    • basic fresh donuts (ie with just sugar/cinamon on them) usually go for about $1 each at most places. The fancy donuts are the usually in the display fridge and cost more, they are not made at the time you buy them because it takes too long.

Start queuing up now, you might make it in before 7pm

    • And to think this small shop used to be a Baker’s Delight. Incredible business.

  • Only ones worth getting are the cream and jam

    • Do you mean donuts or 3.14s?

    • I've noticed that they're a bit smaller than other flavours

      • Not surprising. They're the most popular item.
I drove there twice to get them, to find out they've sold out.
        Haven't been back since

KK's have a much better, softer and sweeter dough. And their fillings and toppings taste much better. But people are bored of things they have had for years, so these new boutique places are more fun to check into and post on social media.

But KK's recently put their prices up which made me stop going there.

        • Respectfully disagree. Wouldnt touch supermarket or cafe donuts, whereas KK donuts are nice, but DD are just that bit better IMO.

  • Lychee one is dem good must try

    • Being Springvale, I'm surprised there are no durian-flavoured donuts

      • +3

They do Durian donuts every Weds

        • They sometimes have it on different day, last time I got it on Tues. but yeah, the regular is Wed

    • Yeah bought two dozen Lychee donut's last weekend. Not as good as Durian but good enough alternative.

      • +1

        Dis guy donuts

  • +2

These donuts are not really "Old Stock". I have been many times during these specials and never had a problem with any of them. It just means the refrigerated section

  • These donuts are awesome. Wouldn't worry if it's old stock as I think they're all in the refrigerated section?

    • Nah the ones with nutella filling/just icing on top or whatever aren't refrigerated. The ones with cream and custard fillings are in the refrigerated section!

I bought some earlier (not realising the sale was on.. came for 2 but couldn't resist another 4 for $4 more!) and they're all extremely fresh.

    Are these donuts fully sick?

  • If you click on the link, there are two mentions of refrigerated donuts only
why would they specifically be mentioning this fact

    • +1

Because they offer other doughnuts that are not refrigerated. So you can't just go and buy M&M and Kit Kat etc

    • Why would you down vote this legit question? Sheesh

  • +1

I find these doughnuts terrible, I've tried pretty much the entire range and they are all incredibly bready and dense, they severely lacked flavour every time, all I tasted was bread (or an overload of Nutella/cream depending on the donut). Vegan ones tasted good for vegan offerings, I even tried these things because I couldn't find anything on the menu that tasted remarkable.

    Really don't understand the hype.

    • Yeah I didn't either until my gf said that likes Daniel's Donuts more than any of the other donut places as they're fluffier and less sweeter. It's nice to not have a sugar crash after eating a donut.

    • +1

Apparently negs mean disagree these days, ridiculous how you were negged for an opinion yet you provided good info.

I agree, DD's taste 'fine' but they are nothing special, and the ones without center filling are too bland to get through once the icing on top is gone. Hype for this place is more about the convenience of being open 24/7 and how they look on socials instead of the actual taste in my opinion.

    • +1

I feel the opposite, to me they're extremely light compared to other donuts and don't make me feel horrible afterwards. I love that they're not stingy on the fillings and I have never ever felt they were bland in the slightest! it's amazing how varying people's opinions can be.

      • Exactly.

  • +3

i like how their donuts aren't a sugar over load like many other donut stores.
fresh cream and jam, lychee are my favs

  • Doesn't bread/dough-based products go stale faster in the fridge?

    • Not stale will go harder from all the fat.

      • I've had these before, once had them in the fridge to eat the next day. Still as good as fresh.

        • Yep, I do this if I ever buy more than one for myself. Pop them in the fridge overnight, remove about 20 minutes before eating and they're perfectly soft. I find that they're a little hard if eaten straight out of the fridge though.

  • to eliminate doubt, these donuts are FRESH but they contain custard/cream and other fillings that are retained within a refrigerated display compared to the normal donuts that sit idle behind the cabinets on freshly baked racks.

this place is a freak of nature, any day, any time there is a minimum 20 min wait with a line up of ~35 people…. it's absolutely ridiculous and yet, deliciously appealing even in the horrendous melbourne windy, wet weather.

personally i prefer their glazed and nutella glazed, all the other "fancy" fad fillers are a bit over the top but for ten bucks, i'd deal with the first world problem.

They've been doing this one a lot recently.
It must be instead of throwing out the old stale donuts. Bit of a trade off since the freshness is one of the best things about Daniel's Donuts, so you get what you pay for.

Nice that this offer is during daylight hours (until 7pm) normally they have these offers after 10pm and odd hours.

They change flavours all the time. Might have the Durian cream one with this offer.

    • I just bought them and they're as soft as any i've ever bought, not stale at all. Probably moreso to sell them so they don't go stale, but they aren't at the time of sale.

  • I'd rather have Krispy Kreme. I know they are busy but the actual doughnuts are crap. The fillings are nice though.

I have been eyeing the new Krispy Kreme Maxibon. $4.50 each or 2 for $6 @711. Someone might want to post that deal. Apparently, it's very nice but they've run out at my local store.

  • A friend brings them over when they come back from that way - Honestly I don't see what all the hype is.

    Terrible cream doughnuts.
Nothing beats Krispy Kreme Original Glaze.
