  is this event any good?

  it seems somewhat objectionable (particularly as a bargainhunter) to have to pay an entry fee, and then pay again for the actual food (which I suspect won't be priced cheaply).

    You do get a lot of free food samples (I filled up last year when I was there) and the dishes (menu here http://www.tasteofsydney.com.au/images/uploads/menu_items_re…) are at bargain prices considering the regular prices for some of these restaurants.

  I went to Melbourne's and it was average. My friends who went to both Sydney and Melbourne said Sydney was much better so I will try this year.
