Been to the TRS in Sydney in June and found out that the queues and check on spot procedure has been changed to the more European style- hand in receipt/application form and we'll mail back to you- procedure. Just wondering if it is still the case for the recent times?
On a side note, how close must the name matches between the passport and invoice? So as I'm shown on invoice as Peter Tan with Peter being my "english (nick)name" and passport is Tan Man Yap?

Maybe go back to the retailer and have this sorted out.
You don’t want to get a TRS officer being extra picky.
If it's over $1k, I believe it needs to have your name as shown on the passport.
If the officer is like me, the name is close enough and I wouldn't know if the missing names were middle names
Are you saying that there is no more on the spot assessment and reimbursement?
I went through recently (2 weeks ago), nothing has changed.
Present app+QR code, show items + receipt, get refund…
what about people submitting using the TRS app?
I think names aren't that important unless its over $1k.
