Always just wore the cheap stuff from chemists for $20. I'd like something a bit better looking overall, maybe some metal construction. Has to be polarised. Don't want to spend high end brand money. Don't really want super cheap chinese import stuff either. Any recommendations for sunglass retailers a step above entry level plastic stuff?

Have a look at D.Franklin's stuff, they're great quality, about $55 a pair plus shipping. Also, TheICONIC stocks some cool looking pairs that are half price right now, ranging from $25-$50.
Check out Veithdia mens sunglasses on Aliexpress. The lens' are polarised and very clear. The magnesium frames have lasted for ages and I normally break the typical Cancer Council ones pretty easy. Super cheap which didn't inspire me with confidence but they have been good.

I wouldn't buy online unless you already know a model number, and its sizing. Or at least try one of these places that send you out 3 or 4 models with free return.
I tried on about 30 pairs the other day at the Sunglass Hut and only found two that suit me, and that was after I'd eliminated the styles which were obviously wrong.
Also, unless you're Asian, be careful from Asian suppliers that they're not Asian fit, which suit higher cheekbones and a lower nose bridge.
Just pony up the $200 and wait for a 20% off sale at Sunglass Hut or OPSM and get some polarised Ray-ban's.
