  Provided the exisitng hard drive is okay rescue and recovery will work fine. otherwise your stuffed and recovery cd is the only way.
  
  Anyone with the same model can make rescue & recovery cd's for you.
  
  If the hard drive is stuffed, you need a new hard drive
  
  Buy a new hard drive and load windows 7 and then run lenovo thinkvantage system update, will be much better :)

from ibm website is only for software that we nee. not recovery.
yeah the rescur and recovery is the only way. otherwise i'll get windows 7 .
