Puffer jackets seem all the rage for the cool kids this winter. This looks like an OK deal for a Columbia Jacket from a reputable online shop. There is a code 'Winter11' gets you $20 off a $100 spend if you add something else to the order. When I tried checkout postage was free.

Great price. Better than the overpriced junk from Kathmandu.

Columbia and North Face are both well known worldwide brand, it baffles me why anyone would spend more for Kathmandu which is unheard of outside of Australia.

Becaus Khatmandu play that game where everythign is permanently 40% off. They have stupid RRPs that nobody anywhere ever has actually paid and they trick people into thinking they've bought a bargain.

        Yea, similar to Oxford.

Having said that I still find them overpriced when on sale. Might as well pay a fraction more (or less) for a well known brand such as this or The North Face.

        • I wouldn't say North Face or Columbia are any better than Kathmandu, LOL. BTW they are Kiwi, not Aussie.

        • @antman: chur bro

        • @antman:

I entirely agree. Kathmandu is no worse than Columbia. Better still, they are as good as Columbia, and in many instances have better designs and are a better fit for me. I have items from both brands and wear Kathmandu pants every day, while Columbia sits in the wardrobe, barely ever touched. Ditto jackets. I think it is snobbish to see one brand better than the other.

While Kathmandu jackets are manufactured overseas, at least a greater proportion of the value chain is Australian. I say hooray that they've managed to market themselves well enough to compete against North Face and Columbia.

      • Remarkable how many people don't know its a NZ brand.

Can you elaborate on this Australian value chain? Genuinely interested in what value Kathmandu brings to Aus.

At first glance I thought this to be remarkably cheap for Columbia Powder, but then realised it's just a jacket.
