Toyota Camry ACV36R clock

Hi Guys,

I recently replaced the battery on my 2005 Toyota Camry ACV36R 4 cylinder Camry.

Unfortunately, after the replacement the clock is no longer displaying.

The headlights and the radio work. When I press the arrows and the mode button for the clock, they work (I can hear the beep).

Any ideas how to resolve this? The clock was displaying values prior to the battery replacement

Thanks!

  • First thing to do would be to check the fuse (look in manual for location.)

Maybe the clock needs a reset. Just like some cars need a reset for the radio when that stops working after battery replacement.

Highly unlikely, did they remove anything from the centre console? Maybe they forgot to re plug the clock back in.

  • Very unusual, the clock should be back on reading 1:00 after battery replacement. I'd say it's crapped itself internally, just source a replacement from a wreckers. Or, if you have the original radio in the car, it has a clock, which just needs to be activated. With the accessories/ignition on, turn radio off, hold preset 4 and press track up. That should turn the radio clock on. Hold AM down and press 1 to change hours, press 2 to change minutes.

    • Does it apply to Camry XV30? ACV36R? It’s a 2005 model

I do have the original radio.

      • Yes. Let me know if that procedure doesn't work.

        • +1

          It worked. Thanks :)

        • @mandok: Good stuff! Glad I could help.

        • @PinzVidz:

I gave the car engine bay a wash today and took it for a spin.

The clock started working again surprisingly.

        • @mandok: Haha, really? Electrics can play some interesting games when they get a bit of age on them. If you don't want 2 clocks, just do the same procedure (radio off, preset 4 + track up) to turn the radio clock off.

        • @PinzVidz:

          Thanks will do :)

Pretty happy. Given Toyota’s bullet proof nature, I was surprised it even broke in the first place tbh.

  • Thanks guys!

I think the clock may have crapped itself.

It did work for 5 min yesterday during driving but then turned off again.

Everything else works. I can even set the speed limit (it beeps when I reach the certain speed). Although this is not displayed, I can hear it as I am pressing the mode button.

Not sure if it is worth replacing from the wreckers. I am not sure how difficult it is to replace it either.
