Xiaomi Roidmi F8 Hand Vac - Gearbite: Warranty?

First time posting on OzBargain so hi to all! Been a long time lurker.

As tradition dictates, before I knew it, I was sucked into a wormhole that is Xiaomi. Slowly accumulating more and more Xiaomi products.

I'd like to buy the new Roidmi F8 hand vac from Gearbite but have never purchased anything from them before and so I'm a little concerned about warranty. If something goes wrong, do I contact them for help? Has anyone ever had experience with Gearbite and how they handle warranty? Please share!

Also if anyone would like to chime in on the product itself, I'd really appreciate it! I've seen a few reviews comparing it to the Dyson V8 so if it lives up to even that standard I'll be happy.

Here's the product if anyone else would like to buy one, or better yet get a special deal going: www.ebay.com.au/itm/183314494065

What other Xiaomi resellers have you had experience doing warranty claims with?

I imagine with all these imported products there’s never much of a warranty to begin with. I mean of course various companies claim to offer them but good luck convincing Banggood or Gearbest to fix your vac after 11months. The return shipping for a repair would probably cost as much as the Vac to begin with.

That said Gearbite being a local seller with a decent rep is probably more likely to help you than someone in China and at least return shipping would be reasonable. My advice though if you’re concerned about warranty is to go to a brick and mortar store and buy a local brand. Stay away from Chinese imports with no local presence.

    • I've never had to return any Xiaomi products, was never too concerned about it breaking but being that this is significantly more expensive than the usual gadgets I get from Xiaomi, warranty becomes a bit more of a concern.

You're right though, I suppose I should stick with brick and motar if I want the peace of mind. Thanks

      • Hi OP. Have you bought the F8? Any reviews?

  • I have recently returned a Xiaomi robot vacuum to Gearbite when it errored after only 3 months. It took me several email attempts over 3 weeks for them to reply (and I couldn't find a phone number) and only after I said I would be claiming through PayPal.

Credit to them, the return label meant I could ship it back to them free of charge which was a pleasant surprise. It has been with them less than a week so I can't yet report on the end result.

I'm optimistically hopeful for a successful resolution as the vacuum itself has been fantastic.

    • How did the return go?

      • Did you get a successful result under warranty in the end?

        • Had two issues with my robovac that were resolved in under 3 and 2 weeks with gearbite.

  • I am currently having the same issue with Gearbite. They keep asking me for my details so they can create a return label; every time I reply they ask me for the same details. I can’t find any contact details for an email address or phone number. Only comms is via eBay. It is terrible that you need to threaten to raise a PayPal dispute to get a warranty repair done. I am going to try ranting on Facebook…
