Horizon: Zero Dawn - The Frozen Wilds DLC $14.95 (Was $29.95) @ PlayStation Store

660

This is the cheapest it's ever been on the Australian PSN store. Previous best was $17.95 (but only for PS+ members, best non-plus price was $19.45)

It's a great deal for those who already own the base game and have been waiting for the DLC price to drop. For those who don't have the game at all, I'd recommend buying the Complete Edition instead which is currently $32.95 for PS+ members. The non-plus price of $39.95 IMO is not much of a deal since the physical copy has been recently available for almost half that price. It was $24.95 from Amazon a few weeks ago.

The Frozen Wilds adds another ~10 hours of gameplay depending on your playstyle and is highly recommended if you enjoyed the main game.

Too much….got my complete edition for $19.

    • wow, I thought the lowest was $20

    • How?

Edit: damn.. it was on amazon. They should redo it for those new influx of Ps4 owners

    • About Damn time !

and i missed the JB/amazon deal

      Own the Base game.

  • Wait so this price doesn't require PS+?

    • +1

Nope, anyone can purchase it for $14.95, which helps make it a slightly better deal.

Nice. I’ve been waiting for this to go on sale.

    Just in time. Thanks OP.

Time to use the EB Games credit.

  • Anyone finished this? Comparison to main game? I finished the main game and own this but haven't got around to playing it yet.

TFW story is short but if you're a keen explorer and do the side quests and collectibles, it's worth it.

The visuals are awesome - couldn't stop using photo mode!

But the big plus for me were the new machines as the difficulty is ramped up another level- love a challenge.

      • Cool i might have to get in to it before the big games come out this year

      • -2

Lol @ anyone who actually uses the 'photo mode' in a game.

        • Laughing at people who enjoy the art aesthetics of a video game? Strange.

  • Tried this after god of war…was ruined.

    • I started the main game after GoW. GoW is better but barely.

      • I had already finished HZD, then played GOW, then went back for the DLC…couldnt get into it.

Maybe its just a DLC thing…rarely find it worthwhile even for great games.

      • How good is GoW if you're sick of the older games? I played Ascension recently in preparation for GoW, and I did not like it at all. It's no worse than any other GoW in the series, which I did enjoy a lot at the time, but I felt the gameplay was very outdated. QTEs galore really annoyed me, and the combat was tiresome. The rank and file enemies were damage sponges. It took so long to kill a single one, and then they get replaced by another immediately, and this drags on for about 10 minutes before you can finally move on.

Does the new GoW have annoying enemies like this, and does it do QTEs? Because I'm done with QTEs.

God of War was great but got repetitive towards the end.

    • I think most games do, I don't judge a game worthy of how many hours it took to complete but if I enjoyed the vast majority of the experience. Both Horizon: Zero Dawn and God of War ticked that box.

You can also buy the complete edition on the US playstation store for US$20.

    • Good price.

  • just a simple question, guys:
is it a great game? a game so good that comparable to God of War series?

Just got a new ps4 pro, and need to have some really good games. (i used to own both consoles, but sold ps4 a while ago, so i am familiar with those "old" ones, but this is a "new" title to me)

      GREAT game.

I thought I'm done with grinding RPG type ie FF franchise but this got be totally hooked almost every night.

    • its a great game, you should play it because there's going to be another part which is going to be equally successful.

4k HZD gives you EYEGASM. One of the only games I played til finish even on Ultra Hardmode.

      • I need to convince my wife to invest in a 4K 100 mhz 65+ TV screen!

    • is it a great game? a game so good that comparable to God of War series?

I really loved GoW1+2 and the PSP games, but none of them hold up in 2017. It's just one angry and psychopathic dude killing everyone who looks at him the wrong way (and even those who don't), and in the most violent manner possible. You would then get ambushed by a QTE when you don't expect it, fail it and either die or the enemy you are finishing off recovers until you can grab it again.

So any game being compared to this series (except the one from this year) is going to be compared favorably.

  • do I need to buy the physical version of the base game or the digital version will be compitable with my save game from the physical copy that I played with before? I sold the physical copy long ago.

  • I have the platinum trophy on my US PSN account. Is it better for me to get the complete edition US or will this dlc let me continue on the US account? I've been burnt in the past with dlc not working across regions… like bloodborne. Destiny seems to work on both regions though.

  • I LOVE the main game. But I got it for $20. $15 for the DLC doesn't seem worth it.

    • That's just how DLC pricing works. You get a fraction of the value in hours per dollar spent with DLC compared to the main game. You might get a 5 hour DLC for $20 while the base game was a 300 hour game for $60.

It's one of the ways they monetise to counteract the fact that game prices haven't gone up in like forever but development costs have.

      • Well yeah, but it still doesn't make it worth it.

        • No it's not worth it. But if you want it, that's what you have to pay.

It's not fair or equivalent value, but it is what it is.

What you can do is wait for a Gold/Complete/Ultimate/GOTY/Directors/Definitive edition of the base game, and buy it then. The DLC is then effectively free.

People who buy in early always get screwed over in the long run. But if you must play it when it's new, you have to expect to pay more.

HZD Complete Edition was $19 during Days of Play sale. That was amazing value.

        • @lostn: thats the reason i am holding back from paying $40ish for a complete edition of HZD now :(
