According to https://4kblurays.com/, it's "Fake 4K", although the website doesn't provide much more explanation.

Can't get the site http://realorfake4k.com to work - usually that has more info.

That site is better - so "Everest" is 2K, but has HDR and Atmos. Probably worth it for the price then.

    • +3

i also noticed the other day realorfake4K isn't working.
As with most modern films being released on UHD blu-ray, is not a true 4K resolution. It was well reviewed by Blu-Ray.com, so it must have some colour benefits to the UHD release http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Everest-4K-Blu-ray/154623/#Rev…

    • +6

The whole 2k upscale/fake 4K thing is pointless since some of the very best looking UHD discs are from 2k sources.

Anyway, this movie is one of the best ways to show off your Atmos speaker setup. Amazingly immersive!

$17 at Kogan with free delivery, $20 at JB, wouldn't say $5 is huge, nor a price error :-D

  • This movie looks crap. Is it?

    • +3

it's ok. nothing you will remember 7 days later I don't think

      • Movie was based on true tragedy and considering that it should leave some emotional marks to any viewers. If you forget after 7 days, you just may be a cold cold hearted creature :P

        • Doesnt matter what the content is if the movie isnt very good. Some movies are just so bland and unoriginal that they are completley forgettable.

        • @ScruffTheJanitor: I agree with you. But in this case the movie is definitely not as you said. It may not be award winning worthy but its good enough to capture the depth of the real event. At least good enough to make you think of what those people went through at that time.

        • +3

@ScruffTheJanitor: I watched this movie on an international flight and couldn't stop thinking about it during the first few days of my holiday. Incredibly powerful story

I enjoyed the movie - 73% on rotten tomatoes

For $12 it's a no brainer to pick up

    • No. It's quite good.

  • Ozgameshop had it for $13.99 a while ago. It's currently $11.99 so it's definitely not a price error.

    • +1

Ok great I've edited the post

    • $11.99 on Ozgameshop. Maybe Amazon are price matching them.

      • Yep looks like it

    thx op, bought one

  • its bluray only not 4k bluray

    • Huh???

      • Some studios just upscale 2K movies to 4K and market it as such.

    • +2

Incorrect. It's the 4K version. Most Amazon 4K listings just state "blu-ray". I've checked the product code and it matches the 4K release

      • +1

        Ryanek is technically correct

I had high hopes for this flick when it was released. Found it disappointing.

  • +5

Had low expectations for the movie but really enjoyed it.

  • Purchased, ty op!

I loved the movie, it came out that I had just finished reading "into thin air" by John Krakauer. I didn't want to miss it so I went to see it while I was on holiday in Thailand.

  • +1

Man that movie gets me stressed out

  • +2

Wasn't expecting much either, but I really felt the film hit every beat it was aiming to hit and quite enjoyed it.

  • Just watched the trailer. ""BRAAAAMMMMMM""

  • +1

Oh the joys of buying a 4k TV - you have a solution looking for a problem!

    • Haha, pretty much. I just bought it. Had been on my list to watch, so might as well watch in 4K HDR with Atmos.

  • I was looking at this as part of the sanity 2 for $40 offer awhile ago

Glad I waited and picked it up for $11.99 from amazon

    • same here 😀

  • Does the Amazon version have HDR?
Its labeled on the ozgameshop version but not this one.

  • even cheaper after cashrewards or shopback

  • Great Gatsby 4K $7.99 on Amazon. Looks like price matching JB Buy 2 get 1 free.
