Honeymoon - Trip Advisor Hall of Fame World Tour Good Idea?

Hi everyone, my partner & I getting married soon and planning a pretty all out honeymoon early next year.
My partner and I literally live on TripAdvisor all the time planning trips and reading reviews.

So we thought to plan a world trip therefore around the Trip Advisor Hall of Fame winners?.
Only 16 hotels globally in the list and most are reasonably priced, not all 5 stars+ etc…
Naturally can't visit them all but would like to tie in at least four of them if we can, ambitious I know.

Here's the list if anyone hasn't seen it. Has anyone been to any of these hotels?

Just trying to gauge TripAdvisor reviews vs. the opinion of my fellow OzBargainers!
Other honeymoon tips certainly welcome too please! :)

God bless you on this experience! Go from the nucleus of the soul and the answer will come.

I would probably avoid most of those hotels.
My problems with Trip Adviser are:
    - it is difficult to determine which reviews are bona fide.
    - even if genuine, your own priorities / likes / dislikes / worldliness / travel experiences / etc., are highly unlikely to be the same as the reviewer(s).

If it were me, we would focus on finding destination(s) and then find a hotel with a good price (this is ozbargain after all) with the qualities we look for.

Wow, sounds like an amazing honeymoon idea. I agree with GG57 though - what destinations are you most interested in? Unless you're planning to fly there, and do nothing but laze around. (Which actually sounds nice too…..)

  • To be honest. All or nothing, otherwise whats the point.

  • Take me with you…..

I agree with the above. I would plan a trip around the destination first and the hotel second. Ideally you want the best of both worlds. Pretty much all the places on that hotel list I have zero personal desire to go to! It depends on your personal style too…after years of slumming it in backpacker accommodation, these days I like to travel as luxuriously as possible and prefer hip 4/5 star boutique hotels over big chain brands. There are some amazing boutique hotels in the best cities of the world and none of them were on that list you linked to. I'd highly recommend Luxe City guides if your style sounds like mine. Good luck and enjoy!
