Final Amazon US Purchase, but Parcel Is Lost

So I did my last hurrah purchase from the Amazon US website before June 30, and it has been almost a month from my order date with no signs of it anywhere. Chat rep suggests it may be lost and I have now been issued a refund as they can no longer reorder for me. Not happy Jan!

Has this happened to anybody else who made their final purchase(s) prior to June 30?

  • Didn't happen to me but what did you order? I went with underwear and a 4tb hard drive. Both went on sale with Prime AU so bit of a waste.

  • Had a double order charged and sent to me despite being promised it would be redirected by the post. Paid $95 to return it to the US + still waiting for refund. Never again.

    • Never again? Aren't you a lucky one :)

    • I think that goes for everybody else in Australia. ;)

Well if its lost and you getting refunds, that is a good outcome. Parcel do get lost.
I order mine before, received it two days ago.

    • I mean giving me a refund is the very least they should do, but I'm now left with an expensive alternative for one of the items I wanted (the Razer USB-C to 3.5mm adapter).

True but its the postal service that lost your parcel, not Amazon. I would be happy with a refund from Amazon

  • Amazon USA provide tracking with orders - what did the tracking show?

    • It shows that it arrived at the carrier facility at 6:15am July 5…

      • Carrier facility where - USA or Australia?

        • I think it's still in the US because ParcelPoint shows it as: Parcel awaiting arrival.

        • Think I would argue with Amazon that a replacement for a lost item is not a new purchase, and therefore not subject to the GST provision. As such there is no valid reason (unless of course if the item(s) is out of stock) they cannot resend the order.

@Ocker: Was told they could only offer a refund. Think I should try my luck with replacement?

          @Munki:

I mean giving me a refund is the very least they should do

Why don't you show your frustration at them? ask for replacement?

  • Why not order again via a forwarder? The shipping may be a bit more expensive but should still be cheaper than ordering in AU.

    • Without knowing what item(s) OP bought it is hard to say what the final cost would be. There will be postage from Amazon to the forwarder and then courier delivery costs, plus GST based on the total purchase price plus shipping

      • "Some NATO watch straps, a wallet and a Razer USB-C to 3.5mm audio adapter". If it is A$124 on the Aussie site and $20 on Amazon US it should still be cheaper to use a forwarder. Can always create a new account and sign up to Prime if the items are Prime eligible

      • Pretty much this. It wouldn't be worth the money. I'm just particularly miffed about one item (Razer USB-C to 3.5mm adapter) as those are expensive to get here (Razer's website charges $35 with $26 shipping).

    Scott Morrison pinched it mate.

Gonna go punch Scott Morrison in the face, then Malcom Turnball for the NBN, and finish it off with a falcon punch for Gerry Harvey right in the dick.

  • In the last 5 years ive had 2 lost parcels from amazon Us, they always default to a refund, you have to complain and spend time with their support to get them to resend it instead of refund.

    • If they have already processed a refund can I try and get them to change that? Refund is only currently being processed.

  • Best outcome would be you receive your refund and then the parcel turns up the next week at your front door.

Next post : moral dilemma please help

    • Well, I just got an additional $5 refund. :)

Best outcome indeed would be if it arrives next week! But I asked them that and they said to just keep it. There's no moral dilemma there. :P

      • Not from Amazon, but from eBay (U.S.), I ordered an expensive t-shirt for Christmas for a friend about 3 years ago. The shirt failed to arrive after 4 months, and the seller was less than helpful (wouldn’t answer emails), so I contacted PayPal.

No problem, they issued me a refund immediately. I asked them the same question - what happens if it turns up next week? Keep the money and keep the goods.

It was amazing how quickly the seller was then able to respond to all of my previous email messages! It was just sad that he chose to be abusive.

The t-shirt arrived about 3 weeks after Christmas, so possibly 5 and a half months from the date of the order.

  • Exactly same thing happen to me: parcel lost. Amazon US refused to re-send explaining that the new GST forbids them sending or re-sending anything anymore to Australia. Immediately after that ridiculous explanation I got refund.
Personally, I cannot believe that all of sudden so many packages were lost.

    • I wonder how many actually got lost…

What annoys me more is that they apparently don't know the logistics company handling the parcels. How do they conduct business if they don't know who their partners are?

Oh yeah pester them a bit more. They're filing a complaint on my behalf with regard to the shipping process (assuming they actually do that). They gave me an additional $5 refund.
