So small bits of cast metal are hundreds of dollars, and a sheet of moulded acrylic are a thousand $+. Most of this stuff would be straight out of China.
Anyone bought direct from an OS supplier?

I bought some 10” rain shower heads from aliexpress, looked like the 200 buck ones in Bunnings and arrived in 3 days for $35 each. Happy to do it for a shower but wouldn’t do it for anything that involves drinking/cooking water
I did through ebay and didn't think of possible lead levels until after. Now I'm paranoid… any way to easily test lead levels?
Bunnings sell lead test kits, they're about $25, kept in the paint dept.
Do they test water lead content too?
got a link? I'm looking for 2 side by side rain shower heads. Or an all in one with 2 outlets.
My apologies it was actually 8" but they cost only$18USD each.

I think you will find a plumber will refuse to install anything without Australian Watermark.

I would think your Insurers would have quite a strong opinion in the event of a claim as well if they found out.
The tap would have to contribute to the claim e.g. leaked and caused flooding. It's not like your house got broken into and they deny your claim because of non compliant taps.
I use this store in Sydney called MTV Bathroom and Tile centre. They are all chinese imported goods, but as a direct retailer they are quality controlled. While you wont get rock bottom prices, when I was doing my home reno it was still cheaper than a Reece product for instance with quality not that far off. For example, I bought a frameless shower screen for $400, 3 years ago, touch wood its still going well. All my other fixtures were from there as well and still working stain and damage free - all items were purchased there, except the toilet and the mirror, which were bunnings specials.
Here’s a blurb about approved products for VIC but I’d imagine that it’s largely the same everywhere. http://www.vba.vic.gov.au/__data/assets/pdf_file/0014/21263/…
John Holland who was building the new Perth Childrens hospital did, it didn't go that badly for them
