Wow, EB Games actually providing solid bargains!

    • +4

      It’s about time as well

    • +4

      *EB Games copying solid bargains!
Seems they've taken note from Amazon with this on Prime Day haha

      • +1

I think EBGames would be feeling the sting from lost sales since Amazon came in.

      • Even so still out of character and a win for gamers.

Picked up origins during prime day but this doesn't need a monthly sub so is a lot better.

If only they do Farcry 5 next!

        • +1

I have reasonable intel, that FarCry 5 will be coming up in the next few days, but the price isn’t as great, off memory it’s $45

        • @narji: $47 they just posted on their Facebook… As you said, price isn't great.

    • -2

      Aye

Now why they suddenly have good deals!

    • Xan use code "HOTDEALS" for free shipping.

      • Code not working for me, order online for pickup I don't think many stores will have in stock.

No stock at deer Park, ordered online. 2 mins later email saying it's embarrassing no stock might ship out to me.

        Fingers crossed

    • If they actually stick to it:

It seems the team couldn't find all your item(s). They searched high and low, but zip.

We will refund the amount listed below automatically. (Please be aware this can take between 1-4 business days).

      Our deepest apologies.

      The EB Games Team.

    What about pc?

    • PC has no physical release in Australia

      • +35

        no physical release

        Must be frustrating.

    • Probably don't stock it since the PC release didn't include any discs, just a Uplay code. I don't think even Ubisoft's online store stocked physical copies of this game

      • +1

couldn't they put a steam code?

  • +1

The fact that it’s EB offering these prices is incredible. Surely they’re losing money doing this?

    • +7

Probably not. Would bet on an agreement with Ubisoft. If 10% of the people who buy this turn up to buy the new one in October, would be worth it, as anyone who doesn't have this already is unlikely to pick up the new release…

      • +9

Yep. And also the more people buy the game, the more people buy DLC.

Also wonder if people are more likely to buy $30-$50 DLC if they bought the base game for $20 rather than $70-$90.

        • That was exactly my plan. Bought the base game on amazon, and figured I'd spend $60-odd on the "Gold Edition" DLC, so I'd be miles ahead than if I'd bought it straight up. Then the Xbox Ultimate Game Sale happened… long story short I've ended up with a physical copy of AC Origins I'll try and get rid of.

    • +1

Probably hit saturation point and decided to cash out as much as possible before the new one is out (in a couple of months?)

Origins is the first AC I've played start to finish, dug every minute of it

  • +1

Can't wait for the 27th for the god of war deal!

    • +2

what deal are you referring to ?

    • Does anyone know what price God of War is likely to be?

      • People are saying $50, which isn't an unrealistic price

        • Sony Exclusive games normally drop to $30. That is the true price. Paying $50 is just giving them a bigger profit.

    • +2

Got it on the Amazon deal for $20 delivered.
Started playing, great game thus far.

      • +1

Going to get it from Amazon when they drop the price down to $20 tonight at 6pm.

Then I am going to use my $10 credit from watching my first Amazon Prime Video Stream.

Bringing the price to $10. as well as bringing the house down around you. I win.

        • Are you stating God of War is meant to be $20 on Amazon tonight? Do you have a link?

  • Does anyone know what time the sales start tomoroow?

    • Probably 8AM, like today's deal.

  • Will it start 12am?

  • +3

I just saw their $49 “sale” price today and proudly told my girlfriend how I got it for $20 on amazon.

    • +8

If only you had used the $10 off voucher and got it for $10

  • Held off on the Prime $20 deal, not sure I can resist here again…

    • What’s stopping you. It’s $20. It’s a gigantic game..

      • +1

        The Witcher 3

    • I'll be surprised if Amazon don't price match since they usually do

      • How does Amazon price match other retailers' prices?

        • +12

They change their price to be the same as the other retailer.

    • +13

You dont have to comment if you dont wanna buy even $20.

This is actually a solid game!

        • +21

How can you give an opinion if you haven't played it?

        • “Same repetitive crap”
Gee.. please start your own gaming review page. We’re desperate for your option on gaming.

        • @AFAR85: See gameplay, read reviews. You don't have to play a game to offer criticism about it

    • +8

To be fair, this one was a pretty big diversion from that formula.

    • +1

This game has tried changing it, I loved it.

But, you are correct, Still too much repetition (Origins is a huge improvement however).

Classic AC (i.e everything before black flag) was bad IMO, and ive played them since 2010.

      • -1

props should have included black flag being bad. AC 2 was the only one i enjoyed playing.

    • I'd tried last year to start the series from the beginning as I never played them, I couldn't finish that first game. I kinda wish I could get, a 'streamline' version of each one to Black Flag, to which I've read is actually good.

      • +1

Skip the first game it is awful aha have a go at second one

        • Cheers, I might do that then. Who thought collecting those flags is in the least bit interesting? I want to fish slap that developer.

        • +1

@FabMan: Yeah its sound advice. The original aged horribly and it wasn't terrific at launch even despite some cool concepts.

I loved 2 and tried going back to one and it was jarring how many of the mechanics had been improved for the sequel and how limited I felt in the first. Gave it an hour and then gave up again on the original and haven't gone back.

    • I'm in the same boat as u, buy for $20 I'll take the punt

  • July is title improvement month.

    • In future, please mention the store/retailer in the title.

That's been fixed. Moderators and power users spend time fixing titles throughout the day and any help is appreciated. Thanks for posting!

    • +13

July is actually baked bean month, you'll need to pick another month.

      • +2

my july has been pretty dry so far…

        • A poor son makes for a richer dad

        • I guess better than a wet baked bean July?

  • Is this online and instore? Prefer to buy in store so that I can play it on the same day.

    • +1

The last deal was in store +online so I assume same deal here.

    • Definetely in store and online

    • Can also order online for instore pickup. If online orders open at 8AM then I'd do that as I assume many stores wont open till around 10 on a Sunday so there's a good chance they'll sell out before the stores open.

  • Any idea what time this will start?
Edit: Just saw it’s probably at 8am.

  • Can someone please convince me to buy this?

    • +6

      Do it!

    • +2

      Do it!

    • +4

      Just…. DO IT!

    • +7

If you don’t. I’m gonna eat a teaspoon of pure sugar

    • +2

I am still considering to get this simply because it's $20. Ive never played any AC before.

      • Same here. Never played any AC game.

But ever since I played the division, I swore I would never go near any Ubisoft game.

        • +2

Never played the Division but the good Assassin's Creed titles and Far Cry's are certainly worth ones time.

      • +1

if you're still considering this at $20, you probably shouldn't play it at all

  • Will the free delivery code for Wolfenstein II (I think it was HOTDEALS) work too?

Or does anyone know what the delivery price normally is?

    • If memory serves me correcyl the basic delivery fee today before adding the HOTDEALS code was $3.95.

      • +1

I added the HOTDEALS code, but it doesn't work :(

        • Same here, not working

  • Actually it (XB1) was $19 on prime day this week.

  • +3

Is this game boring? Too many similar/same old side quests? Interested in getting it but does it feel like it's yet another Assassin's Creed game?

EDIT: This video kinda convinced me not to get it

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yo2ovJZ8S5w

    • +4

      Watch his second video.

He seems to have a real problem with open world that is not the best ever and micro transaction. I get it, but it doesn't make a game itself bad if it's not a core mechanic of it…

    • GS do not rate it too highly, but seriously $20 bucks thats two maccas meals (GS review https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uicDLEURrU8 ). I'd say worth the price point.

      • +8

Wrong, the $5 McOz meal is the only meal I would buy from them, so it's FOUR meals, thank you very much.

        • I have never had one of these before, and now I want one (sans cheese), looks like I have two purchases to make tomorrow (one between 10.30 AM - 2 PM ) …

    • I found the game really enjoyable. The side quests may be a bit samey sometimes, like any open world game, but the thing about side quests is that they're optional. You can do as many as you want and just ignore the rest.

    • I am a huge Witcher 3 fan and Assassin's Creed Origins kinda looked similar to it in YouTube videos that I watched before playing it, so I gave this game a shot but unfortunately this game was boring and a grind if I could explain this game in one sentence it would be somewhat like this in a nutshell:

Hello Bayek some bandits/guards stole my thing/killed someone, go to the outpost and get it back/kill the guy

It is just my opinion you might end up liking it but if I compare it with witcher 3, assassin's creed origins was weak in story and majority of the main and side quests were fetch and kill missions. Nothing to explore and the open world seemed empty to me despite it had so many ? to explore but in the end it turned out to be either animal lair, bandit camp, outpost, papyrus, hidden treasures or tomb which didn't seem rewarding enough even when you try to clear it. Witcher 3 on the other hand had good story, interesting side quests and awesome DLCs. Every side quests were interesting in Witcher and always made me curious to explore more.

Like I said it is just my opinion.

      • +1

The witcher has always been a awesome game.

  • +1

Oh god, another game that will be added to my backload…

    • +3

My backlog is two bookshelves including 360 /PS3/NDS generations games. You are doing it right ;) just keep adding :)

  • -1

Today deal was dissapointing … was store 10.30 am or so and already gone… online shows pickup location nearest in some nsw store :-/ (im in vic)

    • Price match at JBHIFI or order online for delivery

      • JB did not price matched sadly… the word has gone out eb stocks are finished. Jb said they only price match if local eb stocks are available…

    • Order online for instore pickup before the store opens. Probably what other people did today and why you missed out. Decent chance staff would grab the stock before opening up.

  • -2

Already got it for $10 during the Prime sale. Couldn't justify at $20 personally as I will probably barely touch it, it does look like a great game though so for $10 it was an easy decision.

  • +1

Tempted to buy because it's just a good deal, but like, I've never been too into AC. I beat the PSP and PS Vita ones and the side scroller ones but other than that I've never actually finished one. Always get bored or sidetracked somewhere in the middle. (Oh, and I beat the Freedom Cry standalone DLC game, it was a cheap and shiny game for my then new launch PS4)

I'd be tempted to use this as a jumping in point, but then I have Unity from CD Keys, and Syndicate, Brotherhood, and another one I think from Gold on top of that. Not to mention 3 from Plus and I still have 1 and 2 floating around somewhere from a 50 cent bargain bin at Cashies a while back.

Long story short, it's a good deal and the only thing stopping me from getting it is that I already have so damn much AC to get through as it is.

    • +2

This game feels less like an AC game than previous installments, because they really tried to mix in some new elements and learn from other modern action games. You may enjoy it more than the others, depending on what type of things you like in a game.
