Line Trimmer ALDI Vs Bunnings Help

Looking to get a cheap line trimmer for odd use, got a cheap one from deals direct few years ago messed it up a little by not understanding the instructions well was worst instructions I have seen. Anyway after getting over that one of handles started to get loose and a part broken off and then almost 2 yrs later started to leak petrol. Was about $89 if I remember and I'm sure on offer was a 48cc. Ending up giving this away as got sick of it was akward to use and heavy. I did end up getting it free in the end due to ongoing problems.

I see Bunnings have a Homelite for $99 and I see about first or second week of August last year and possibly this year Aldi sell one for $89. Which would be the better bet, Aldi or Bunnings one?

As said not got much of a garden the verge is larger but lacking of grass and I'm not sorting that as its a rental it was not looking great when moving in and its council grounds anyway.

Im trying to get agents to sort out retuculation on a bigger part of our garden which a line trimmer will have more use of. But if they dont sort it out then I not be.

Just curious if anyone has either model of the line trimmers I mentioned.

  • i have a aldi one performs ok but the fuel lines perished just after 12 months had to replace them. had a homelite before that it had no balls went straight back to bunnings would not go that but also depends on the job you need it to do.

  • Considered electric? Not much to go wrong with them and they are a lot cheaper than battery.

    • I thought electric would be a pain in the arse to be honest limited to where you can go or usingusing extension cables even battery ones i thought would bot be able to cope or require charge half way through job?

      • The extension cord is a bit of a pain, but i reckon it’s offset by not having to worry about fuel, mixing or the noise and extra effort to start a Petrol engine.

I have a Ryobi 18v cordless and it will do aruond 250m of edging on one 4ah charge with enough left over to give the paths/driveway a quick once over with the 18v blower. I’ve tried a 36v unit and it will do the same edging on a small (2.6ah) battery. The 36v does have much better power than the 18v too.
