Also 1080s go for $600 brand new normally nowadays. This is a $100 premium for nothing.

Been looking at 1080s with every ebay deal. This was covered but the price gets jacked every sale so it's about the same price after code no matter if you're using the 5% or 25% off code. I think I might stick with my 970 until at least Black Friday and see if next gen cards are out by then or see if 1080s have at least dropped in price a bit more!
If you have hung tight with a 970 this long I would recommend holding out until the new gen GPUs are released. At the very least it will result in a price drop of these cards.
I agree. It sucks having the VRAM issue but the 970 is one generation behind the 1080. I think it'll be a good move to wait and see the release of the next one. But hey, it's your money. :)
Funny thing is my 970 recently started giving me weird artifacts when playing any game, even on low settings and at low temps.
I've just RMAed it (was only 2.5 years old) and am hoping I get a 1060 or 1070 back that I can sell and upgrade, but I'll just have to wait and see.
Honestly, unless it's under $500 the 1080 now feels over priced. It's too old. I hope amd strange Nvidia for this stagnation.
We know that Nvidia won't miss the holiday sales. So we should expect at the worst new cards will be out in late October/ early Nov.

Here. By it from gumtree for much much cheaper..use the age of the card as a big haggling device..owner can't say muchOwner can say no.
Owner can always say no it's just a numbers game. So basically how urgent you need it which for some like me isn't very much (urgent).
The dilemma is if it is worth buying these GPUs this late in the GPU cycle, these first came out around 2 years ago and the next gen is rumoured to be around 50% better performance around probably a similar price point.
The other side of the coin is that we need a few schmucks to buy up the old inventory before we see the new cards. :-)
