After the last deal sold out very quickly, the seller has just got more stock into Australia and is willing to sell it for $59.99 delivered. Unfortunately the seller won't go down to the previous best price but still a good deal at $59.99.

The code works for

I'd say you're fine with 32GB unless you tend to have a lot of exciting road incidents. 3 minute videos are 268MB (32GB/268MB=119 videos) and after the card is full it will just overwrite the oldest video.

The Cam

I'll repeat from last time:

I'm an avid dashcam video watcher. The quality of the videos on Roadcam vary quite a bit however whenever I see a good quality video I note down the dashcam. Unfortunately, YouTube compresses their videos so it's difficult to ascertain if the details are lost by the camera or in the uploaded video. This was the post that sold me on the B1W. The difficult lighting conditions were handled quite well by the B1W although without seeing the raw video hard to tell a comparison of licence plates.

Videos

However, I've taken some test videos and uploaded them uncompressed-ish (I think) so you can have a look.

Using the Cam/App

You connect to the cam via Wi-Fi which has the default password of 1234567890. May be worth changing if you don't want to risk others connecting to your cam. You can also turn the wi-fi off permanently by holding down the cam's button. The app itself lets you choose a bunch of options such as stopping the voice notifications. Blinking green light means recording, solid green means on but not recording and I'm guessing different lights for wi-fi off.

So if you see something interesting on the road, you press the button on the side of the camera. By default, the camera records in 1 minute increments. I've changed mine to 3 but I'm not sure that's really useful. In the app, there is a list of videos on the cam called normal which is the loop of videos and Emergency Video which are the videos it takes when you press the button.

Highlights

  • 1080p resolution at 30fps with a bit rate of 12Mbps.
  • Sony IMX323 sensor.
  • Novatek GM8135S processor
  • No screen or GPS (settings adjusted with app).
  • Uses capacitors instead of Lithium Ion batteries making it better for hot climates (hello Australian summer). Works up to 70c.
  • Need to settle a road argument? Connect to the wi-fi and you can play the videos in seconds on your phone.
  • Parking Mode (Triggered by G-sensor. When an impact is detected by the G-sensor, the camera starts video recording 30 seconds automatically. The hardwire kit needed for Parking Mode is not included in standard package, buyer needs to buy it separately.)

If you are looking for an affordable, discreet, Wifi enabled camera with good video quality, the Blueskysea B1W is a great choice. Since the camera does not have a screen you will need a smartphone to setup the camera using the available app.Overall one of the best bang for your buck cameras for 2018. Better video quality than the previous budget camera, the A118C. Only unknown is long term reliability. - Dashcam Talk -

Another YouTube Review

I believe the Blueskysea B1W is the compromise between the cheap webcams (e.g. Xiaomi 70min/mai $40-$55and the more expensive quality ones (Viofo A119 Pro ~$133). Ranked #1 in cheap dashcams on Dashcamtalk (Discussion Thread)

    Great deal, thanks Neil!
Does the seller have the hardwire kit available, and would they be willing to package this in with a 32GB card? Cheers.

    • They sell the hardware kit on Amazon but the code doesn't work with it.

Now this is a quality post, great work neil!

Nabbed one for the main sedan, this should be a treat to setup.

  • Can you tell us more about the app please Neil.. Can I monitor my wife's driving from my lounge chair?

    • +8

If your wife is driving near your lounge chair then yes.

      • It's been know to happen…have you tried to test distance between unit and mobile and still maintain a connection?

    • Why do you want to do that?

    • Pretty sure the power to the camera would need to be on (i.e. car at least on "accessories") whilst you're attempting to access. So unless your wife keeps the car running in the garage, you'll be out of luck.

      • +1

So unless your wife keeps the car running in the garage..

Only that one time I fell asleep in the car

  • Thanks Neil.

Nabbed the previous deal and was quick on this again.

Getting another two for the wife's car and the other for the old man as his father's Day gift (two months away, but that's sorted now!)

EDIT: with my current one, I can vouch for Neil's description there.
Easy to setup, easy to tuck the cable away, the 3M stickies are very strong, and the quality of the video is excellent.

Can be a bit tricky to view the footage on your phone as you have to turn off your 4G so it can connect via the dash cams wifi. But all in all, very convenient to view on the phone.

    • I have the opposite issue. Can work fine with the 4g on but then if I don't click forget network it continues to connect to the wi-fi every time I bring my phone into the car. Not a big deal as I don't connect that often.

      • Which phone are you using? My Note8 has WIFI settings that have a setting to not automatically connect to a WIFI source.

        • ZTE Axon 7. I need to update it and probably flash a new ROM as the default is not great.

  • +1

    Only if it had GPS

    • Why do you want gps in a dash camera?

      • To have the record of where the incident happened

        • It's not needed as the video footage will clearly show this.

  • Nice deal. Do you need to buy a mounting kit or will it stick right to the windscreen?

    • Comes with double sided tape to mount the camera and also mini-hooks with double sided tape to go around your windshield. The cord is very long so you can take a long path to the cigarette lighter.

    Thanks for post.

Once the card is full does it just keep recording and overwriting the old videos or do you need to manually erase?

    • +1

Automatically overwrites. You don't need to interact with the camera at all. Once you switch your car on it starts recording and doing it's thing.

  • 32gb sold out… ordered one with no sd card

    THANKS OP

  • Thanks this might suffice as an upgrade over my crappy Chinese cam after someone intentionally tried to run me down and it cutting out at the crucial moment!

    • +1

What happened after? No proof so they got away?

      • The sight of cops scared him off. Ended up being a my story vs his story in the end. Not worth going to court to have my identity revealed.

    • +1

      Don't leave us hanging!

  • +1

Including the videos was great idea, thanks for posting.

  • none left

    • Should be plenty as of 5PM. You need to put coupon in at cart.

  • Great deal, thanks for sharing i have been looking for this one on ebay but nothing was cheaper than 80$, ordered two of them

  • bought 2 with out memory cards thanks.

  • Thanks OP, got one without an SD card. Awesome deal.

Been looking for a good one that uses capacitors.

  • +1

Now we need an SD card deal!

  • Is this already sold out:?

  • Looks like I missed out again. Great post though Neil, thanks for the effort.

  • Just got one without the card

Now it says promo code can't be applied (plus the price seems to keep changing eg. $5 more)

  • If you click the link on the photo, I was able to get the camera for $65.

  • +11

Seller is getting another 100pcs next month. If anyone missed out let me know and I'll see if the rep can pass on a deal.

  • +1

is there only ever like 5 of these at a time? always expired by the time I see them lol

    • +4

There were 100. If you want one, let me know and I'll give you a heads up before they go on sale.

      • if you could let me know that would be great!
        Thanks mate!

      • Me too…

      • would love a heads up too, thanks!!!

      • I guess he still doesn't understand the power of ozbargain. Why would you get only 100 shipped from China (if there is no supply issues from the factory)? How much money can you make from 100 units? Get 1000 and sell them for $55 to make it worthy.

      • Could you let me know too please? Thank you!

      • Yes Neil, give me the heads up please :)

      • metoo please!

      • Me three

  • This or Xiaomi Dash cam which one is better?

    • I have the xiaomi 70 mai, and whilst it was cheap and much better than not having a dashcam, the video quality is a bit so-so. For example, it can be quite hard to read license plate numbers. So I would presume this one is better.

  • +1

Link to 64gb + dash cam ended up in the suction cup?

  • +1

    Oh the rep says:

and if your fans asked why we augment the price sometimes, it's because "deliver outside from AU"
and from 1 july, AU impose 10% tax on all seller who deliver single item(single parcel) outside from AU
This is reported in the news, everybody can check it out.
It’s not that we are arbitrarily raising prices.

  • Damn, missed this out coz been waiting for that prime Video $10 credits. Would love to have 2 of these to record the left & right sides of my car. Oh well, till next time then. So watch out all of you mobile users & chicken drumstick munchers.

    • Prime video $10 credit won't work on this as it is not sold and supplied by Amazon Au

      • Yeah you are right, tried later & it wont work.

  • Received it today. Couldn’t find a microsd for it though, thought I had a spare one :/

  • +1

Set it up today and drove to work with it on. Easy to setup, easy to connect to the app. Good quality video.

For $50, this was an absolute steal. 1 disputed insurance claim and it's paid for itself tenfold.

  • Managed to have it installed today… Threw in a microsd from an old phone, still works. The app connectivity is basic but works.

I'm a bit puzzled about the parking sensor thingy - I've currently plugged it into the cigarette lighter socket which seems to be always on. I worry that my car battery may run flat, is there a straightforward way to make this socket turn on only when the engine is on?

  • +1

installed mine today and have to say I am disappointed with the video quality….

I don't need perfect video, but the fact that it has difficulty picking up number plate in broad day night is definitely a bummer and kind of defeat the whole purpose….

    • That's weird. I mean it's not perfect but any car that is going to impact you should have a visible licence. Make sure it's not faced to high up to get the glare of the sun. Is the footage comparable with my test footage I provided?

  • Got my b1w the other day. Just installed it but couldn't get the app to work. Used another phone and same results. Anyone having the same problem?

    • +1

Are you connected to the cameras wi-fi network?

      • The app never opened on my s8 and even on my wife's iphone. I've formatted my micro sd, used another micro sd and nothing seemed to work

      • Finally got it to work. Thanks Neil. It wasn't connected to the camera's wifi after all

        • Cool. Yeah, you have to connect to the wi-fi with 123456790 as password and then wait for a message from Android that says something about being connected to the wi-fi but there is no Internet connection and click OK. If you skip that message it won't connect. It caught me out as you can't get that message back easily.

  • App never connects. Not sure what the problem is

  • +2

If you don't want to wait and looking to buy 2 cams, I think this deal work out about the same
