Octopath Traveler is selling out worldwide with unprecedented demand… looks like a great game.

Amazon has lowered their price to $69 to match Big W, with free shipping if you've got Prime. Saves the trip to the shops, only to find your local Big W may not have it (I've been having issues with my local not putting out releases until a week after they're in the catalogue lately!)

Don't forget CashRewards, brings the price down a little cheaper.

  • It should be free shipping without Prime, since it over $49.

    • You could well be right there, can't confirm because I have Prime but happy to take your word on it!

      • Prime just gives you FREE Expedited Delivery, which means it shipped out faster.

  • You could also get it for $59, if you still have $10 Prime Video credit (promotion has expired). Also 6% Cashback from CashReawards.

    • +1

      I haven't received my credit yet. :\

      • +1

        Same.

Anyone know how long it takes?

        • +2

I received mine. Watched Seinfeld (The Mango) if it helps.

          It won't. But great show.

        • It says within 3-4 days after watching, which mine did. The email was titled "Your $10 Amazon credit has been issued" so maybe search your junk mail for that. I don't know if it mattered but I watched a full movie just in case they didn't count incomplete streams.

        • 3 days. If it's past 4 days and you haven't received it yet, time to email the Amazon support team.

        • @Gharvey Snruff: I was subjected to 4 long, agonising minutes of Baby Shark.

          Took 3-4 days.

I don’t know if $10 will cover the trauma.

        • @yanhaot: Thanks, darn. I really regret putting it off until yesterday

        • @Lucifersfury82:

I do not know what baby shark is. Kids show?

        • @Gharvey Snruff: Yes, or Nightmare fuel

    • Have to watch a video from start to end

      • +1

incorrect. i watched 2 seconds and closed it. Still got my credit 3 days ago.

  • I'm gunna try buy it with the $10 voucher + cash rewards and see if it works. I shall report back.

    • +1

      It worked

      • How long did it take you to get the voucher after watching a video?

        • I got it in 3 days.

        • I still hadn't received it today but I spoke to the online chat and they applied it manually.

        • @Jamiea:
Oh really, what did you say? I tried that and they told me it was automatic.

        • @HolyFosh: the first guy told me that but then he transferred me to the prime specialist team and they did it

    • +8

I'm guessing you don't have a switch.. so why come and troll?

        • +6

There are so many switch games available. It's pretty amazing what they've done with the Eshop.

        • +2

@Soapdroid: Yeah, they're clearly just trolling. Here's a list for anyone interested, there's a lot of games and that includes exclusives, unlike some other consoles like the Xbox One.

      • -1

I have a switch. It's my primary gaming console in terms of how much I use it. But I kinda agree with him.

Why? I don't care for indie eshop stuff. Doesn't do it for me. I'm after AAA games, and many of them on switch are re-releases.

I'm still enjoying the system.. but my back catalogue of games to play is small and decreasing quickly.

The good thing is the cost to play a game (provided you sell it) is marginal. So the switch can, frankly, become my least used system if need be. Across the three consoles I'll always have something to play.

    • +4

Or maybe there's high demand for quality old school RPGs.

  • +4

If anyone is on the fence, there is a 3 hour downloadable demo on the e-shop and you can transfer your save game to the full game if you decide to buy it

    • Yeah, it's awesome how they handled that. I've played the demo for about two hours and it's great but I'm not sure if I'm ready to buy it yet. Have a backlog of a lot of games haha. I might get it eventually though. I can get it for $50 since I have $20 amazon credit.

  • +1

impulse buy…wanted the hard copy, hope it's good

    • There is a 3 hour demo on the e-store. I wasn't going to get it before that since I'm not that into RPGs, but I did enjoy it.

Good thing is your progress on the demo Ctried through to the full game.

    • +1

Reviews say that the character development is trash. Other than that the game is bloody amazing

      • I disagree. 30+ hours in and it's easy to get involved in their individual stories and the overview of the world. I can see why reviewers said that though, some characters start out with really lackluster and cliche personalities and stories. They get a lot better later on though.

  • Had my Switch for a little less than a month, and only have Zelda and Mario Tennis. With my $10 credit, should I get this or one of the other many games available for $69? The original Xenoblade for Wii is one of my favourite games, but the new one doesn't interest me for some reason

    • +5

      Get Mario Odyssey

      • Just bought. Also used Cash Rewards for the first time with the free $10. Any idea when it appears in my account?

    • +2

Yeah get Mario Odyssey if you don't have it

    • +4

Xenoblade 2 was one of my greatest gaming experiences, it just gets better and better right until the epic finale.
Start is slow though, feels like they teach you a small amount at a time.

    • +1

Splatoon is pretty good, so is Cave Story. Mario Party, Fire Emblem, Shin Megami Tensei, Metroid Prime 4, Smash Bros, The World Ends With You, Disgaea 1 Complete and some other good games are coming out soon. I hear Golf Story is surprisingly good as well, it's on the eShop.

If you've got a friend to play it with, Snipperclips is great fun.

      • +2

        Yeah Golf Story is good.

      • +2

Was interested in Splatoon 2 till I saw online subscription is coming soon. I'm expecting this to lower the player base, so I'm a bit cautious

        • theres still a fair bit to play offline if your not into multiplayer -especially with the expansion pack.

        • I honestly would pay $20/year or whatever it is just to keep playing Splatoon. Played it every single day since launch for about 6 months after it came out, took a break and have just gotten back into it with the new expansion

      • +1

If you want to ruin relationships by yelling "TOMATO!I SAID F..KING TOMATO! WHY DID YOU GIVE ME A DIRTY PLATE?!" then you'll love Overcooked!

    • +2

Xenoblade 2 takes a while for the story to get going, but has an awesome tie in to the original game in the later parts of the story. Combat is a bit different, takes a little adjusting to

  • +1

Ordered it for $76 on Monday… still waiting for it to ship.

    • What's the estimated delivery date? I ordered it on Tuesday night and it says guaranteed delivery by the 23rd, hasn't shipped either though

  • +4

i'm only interested in this game if it has 8 paths, any more, or any less i'm not interested

    • It has 8 paths.

  • "temporarily" out of stock.

  • Ordered but it says: Estimated delivery: not yet available.

Is that because it's sold out or on pre-order?

    • +2

It usually switched to back order when it's sold out. Happened to me when I bought another switch game that also sold out. They usually restock pretty quickly though.

Temporarily out of stock. Order now and we'll deliver when available. We'll e-mail you with an estimated delivery date as soon as we have more information. Your credit card will not be charged until we ship the item.

  • +1

Been playing it for 25+ hours so far. It's a no brainer purchase for the NSW if you love jRPGs. Some of the prologue chapters may seem cliche/boring, but they get interesting as you progress through the game.

    • +5

I'm in WA so still on the fence.

    • Is it more story based or systems/grinding based like most JRPGs?

  • +1

"Enjoy the free demo in Nintendo eShop"

I'll have to try it. I've never been able to get into Square Enix RPGs. I'd like to but I just never find the story or characters all that great.

  • +2

Back up for 69, but 3-4 weeks wait.

Darn, if only they'd activated my coupon I could have got it.

    Oh well.

  • Ordered for $69 this morning. More stock coming in tomorrow, expected delivery is Friday to Perth.
