Philips Hue White Starter Kit $71.89 from Bunnings Warehouse

210

Hi all,

First time posting so please be gentle.

Have been doing pretty crazy reading the last few days about smart lighting etc. Just so happened to come across this one this morning as I was doing up some pricing again.

Have been tossing up between the sengled/yeelight and these philips hues. At this price I think I may just pull the trigger on the Hues

Let me know what you all think!

  • Hue's are good if you have homekit, speaking from personal experience as we have them at home as part of our homekit system. This actually seems quite cheap, considering each bulb normally costs $30.

    Price Hipster price evolution.

BTW there was this Amazon deal earlier.

I have no idea what any of this means.

The Amazon deal is for an extra bulb which is also colour in addition to the starter kit here I believe. The colour bulbs are more expensive, normally selling around $89 each, so the Amazon one is also a good deal.

        You really know your bulbs.

Didn't neg you by the way. But wish I knew more.

  • Buy at officeworks to beat price by 10%

    • Isn't it 5%?

      • Oops yeah 5% dunno why I wrote 10%. Too early 😂

        • Bunnings beat it by 10%, but you'll have to be extremely lucky to have it done.

Get Officeworks to price beat, then take receipt to Bunnings to price beat.

Take Bunnings receipt to Officeworks to price beat.

Keep doing that until the item is free then take back all the other ones for a refund.

  • This seems to be much better value, just popped up: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/391367

That deal is only for 2 white only bulbs (can change from cool white to warm white), each bulb's RRP is $49. Although this does come with a remote/switch worth
      $34

This deal is 3 white & colour bulbs, each bulb's RRP is $89. Thus this deal is much better value.

I'd recommend the amazon 3 x colour bulbs + hub for $139. These white only bulbs often go for between $20 and $30 so there's not much of a saving here except against the hub. The colour ambience bulbs normally sell for $89 each (but sometimes $49 on sale), so the discount is more substantial IMO.

You can also price match the amazon deal at bunnings for another 10% if they have stock.

    Good luck!

    • You can also price match the amazon deal at bunnings

Doubt it, most places will only price match physical stores.

      • I called my local bunnings and they had no issues price matching Amazon.

No luck for b22 home :(

  • Anyone notice it says you can choose between 50,000 shades of white in the last photo. That has to be a mistake right?

  • Bunnings change their prices on Hue all the time, and currently also have the best price on the colour starter kit, slightly better than Amazon. I'm tempted to buy yet another one, even though i don't need it at all. But i'd much rather they put the GU10s on special again.
