PPSR/REVS Vehicle Check $2.00 (Was $3.40) @ PPSR.gov.au

2440

Following on from my recent post a few days ago, the Australian Government have passed legislation to decrease the PPSR report from $3.40 to $2.00 starting on 1 August 2018. I thought it was worth posting a new deal for this, as this is a drop which hasn't occurred for a few years and it's a great price for this report.

Thank you so much to Marsh86 for the info on the legislation pass as well as ndr2h for the heads up initially.

Thank you to Spackbace for this write up:

The PPSR is used to find out if there's any money owing on a car, or if it's previously been written off.

This is the normal price, there's no denying that, however many people don't realise how cheap and easy the service is. Many sites offer the same thing for $10 or more, when the standard government price is considerably less!

A few horror stories in the forums lately would've been sorted very early on if they had've consulted this site before buying/putting a deposit down.

Bookmark the site, after test driving the car you're looking at, sit in your car and generate the check, then decide from there if you want to purchase the car.

As always, enjoy!

That's only a large chips from KFC

Now unlike the last post which is normal price, this IS a deal!

  • It's good that they have, but I'm wondering why the government would bother reducing the price

    • Don’t complain and just take it.

    • Trickle down bang

    • Presumably to encourage more people to avail themselves of the service?

    • Tech is insanely cheap. Perhaps they're just scaling with the cost of the search.

Yay. Some guy tried to sell me a $14,000 car for $8,000 but it was a statutory write off on the PPSR.

    • What a save! It's amazing how helpful this report is!

excuse my ignorance, but what is a statutory write off and what's the problem with buying a car that's been written off?

      • +5

Statutory write off means the car can never be registered in Australia again

        • Oh, I see. Thank you.

  • What is the difference between this one with the Service NSW (Vehicle history report) ? because at Service NSW is $22

    • +12

      $20

    • It can give some registration history information not on PPSR

  • For checking if the car is a write off, I just take the VIN number and call the company. I suspected this for a Honda CRV a guy was selling so called Honda, and they immediately told me that it was a write-off.

    • So what did you say to the guy afterwards?

    • +1

You called the Honda dealership or head office?

Rung their headquarters but the Japanese bloke could say nothing more than ‘ahh so’

  • Damn! You mean I'd have saved $1.40 if I hadn't done a check last night? I need $100 worth of counselling to get over that. :-(

  • i've spent hundreds of dollars on this site.

    this is a huge saving.

    thanks OP

  • What are these options , haven't seen them before?

Registrations – up to 7 years – new fee is $6.00 (reduced from $6.80)Registrations – for 7–25 years – new fee is $25 (reduced from $34)Registrations – no end date – new fee is $115 (reduced from $119)

They're for when you own/have an interest in the asset. Like a bank giving you a loan for a car, the government charges them to lodge the encumbrance against your vehicle.

  • Carsales slugs you $15 for this report.

    • Murdock?

    • They offer a CarFacts report which includes a PPSR check, among other information.
