I lost the key to my bike lock so this will serve as a decent replacement - thanks op!

I think it'll be a terrible replacement. You're never going to fit it into your bike lock's keyway.

"for anyone who picked up a bike…"

And to prevent some other bastard picking up your "new" bike.

  • …nice one. needed one for when at the beach
only one black available near me so limited stock…?

Combination lock isn't what I think when I read knog party combo….

  • Does anyone here change more than a couple of numbers more than a couple of turns?

    • You gotta go full twist

Do NOT use this lock as the sole way to secure your bike, unless in a high traffic public area. It's extremely easy to defeat.

However it'd be a good one for locking your front wheel to your frame while using a solid D Lock to secure your frame to a post.

  • Just got one at Rebel Mile End, still about 12 in stock with no price tag reduction but scans as 5 dollars. Purple, pink green and white available. Thanks for the deal.

I wouldnt trust a cheap combination bike lock. Generally with combination locks if you pull them and then turn the numbers you can hear/feel them clicking into place and voila unlocked

    • i ride around on a bike that no one would want to steal, so this is good enough :)

      • +2

People don't always steal bikes because they're valuable. They can steal them because they need a way to get home or just because they feel like it. My wife's bike was stolen from our shed by someone who just fancied a ride around and they dumped it in the river a short distance away.

The financial loss associated with a cheap bike may not be great, but the inconvenience can be considerable. You've got to spend time and effort to replace it.

        • Thief probably saw the bike colour and thought OBIKE!..?

  • thanks OP. got one

  • Thanks OP. Ordered one.

Here is a review stating that it's not the strongest lock

Be VERY CAREFUL with trusting any bike of value with ANY lock. Depends somewhat on where bike is being kept and/or area you live I guess.
I had 2 bikes stolen, both within 1 week of purchase. 1 from my housing department unit block, other was stolen from uni , where I thought it would be safer with cameras around and I had taken the seat off also and placed it in my car..
After much research, where I basically learnt how bikes are stolen, I spent about $100 on a bike lock thats very difficult to break etc .
Thieves are opportunistic. Many of the cable locks can just be cut with a pair of cheap wire cutters which thieves can carry on pocket. They also bust open the U shaped ones using a bottle jack. They also will put a pair of bolt cutters in their jacket, and come back to get a bike they have spotted.
I ended up with master lock street cuffs. Will stop most thieves.http://road.cc/content/review/35027-masterlock-street-cuff-lock
For a cheap bike, a cheap lock will hopefully suffice, but be aware the cheap locks are just for show, and crims get through them soooo easily .
I figured $100 to protect my $800 bike was OK, and I was really annoyed with my first 2 bikes being stolen.
The police said to make sure you clearly mark frame also, with engraving of your details etc .
I hope this helps others to not have their bike stolen. This is great for $5 though.

Great picked up three for the kids bikes. Used eBay store and $5 combined postage. Saves me dealing with shopping centre. Yay.

  • Bought one of these, the combo has been set by someone in the shop so I'm working through the combos.

To people who have one of these locks: If you have the first three numbers selected and then spin the last number while pulling on the cable does the lock come undone? Just want to make sure my technique is going to work ;)

    • I would assume so. Ill check tonight

    • Yes - it's correct. Once combo sorted - pulse up and away

      • Thanks, up to 6800 :)

      • Hmmm, got to 10000, no dice.

So you mean I need to push towards the lock before pulling to unlock it properly? It won't unlock if I apply constant pressure tugging the cable away from the lock while spinning the dials?

        • No, just pull the lock from the entry point upon the final combination. You sure you lined up the 0000 the right line? If you PM your email to me I will send you a quick vid on how it should operate tonight.

        • You tried 10000 different codes? I would have just swapped it over for a new one :)

  • There is also the lights which are pretty useless, but the rear ones are a good deal from $5 a pop.
