Any Online/Offline Shop Recommendation for Organic Herbs (Cinnamon, Turmeric, Ginger, Five Spices etc)

Hello folks, been buying organic herbs from either Santos Organic or Austral Herbs, and wondering if there are others that offer quality organic products at competitive prices, thanks heaps.

  • how do organic herbs differ from non-organic herbs?

    • Word "organic" appear in packaging and cost 25% more?

    • In general it means the production process is free of chemical pesticides, chemical herbicides, chemical fertilizers. So due to being more laborious and expensive applying natural farming practices, it is more expensive.

That's the concept anyway. If supermarkets spray chemical inhibitors on it to extend its shelf life, it's still considered organically farmed … Just not organically shelved/stored..

Do farmers market or grow your own seems like the way to go

      • That might explain why it's more expensive, but doesn't mean it's going to be any different to your non-organic herbs.

absence of chemicals in the production process theoretically means your body doesnt need to be exposed to the chemical, doesnt need to exhaust itself digesting that chemical etc. I for one go on a juice fast every now and then, I also have a vege-patch and home raise chickens … it's not a fad, its not just healthier, but tastes better and fresher, most importantly I know exactly where some of my food comes from. (of course I still grocery shop).

Not saying there are no theoretical benefits.

Just wondering if there are any scientifically proven benefits, or is it purely a "feel good factor" to it all. Or to make it more clear, would an equally fresh produce of organic and non-organic origin test different in terms of taste and health benefits? (More than just a confirmation that trace elements are present, but also that said elements are detrimental at those concentrations.)

"On the basis of a systematic review of studies of satisfactory quality, there is no evidence of a difference in nutrient quality between organically and conventionally produced foodstuffs. The small differences in nutrient content detected are biologically plausible and mostly relate to differences in production methods."

          so…. "feel good factor" ;)

  • Probably politically incorrect to market them as Hydro herbs some people might get the wrong idea.
Saying that ask the people with the wrong idea what they'd prefer the hydro has more potency over organic.

I have bought turmeric from austral herbs before and I think you know already they are very competitive at larger amounts.
