[Price Error] 1TB Samsung T5 External SSD Amazon AU / Kogan $190

Moved to Forum: Original Link

I'm sorry but it seems this is a listing error trap. Order at your own risk! You might receive a 250gb ssd instead.

I was looking for a large capacity usb c ssd. Found that kogan had a good price of $509 plus shipping on their website, but on kogan's amazon online store it's only $190. This over 50% discount needed to be shared.

Here is the comparison for the same
Kogan.com.au $509 plus postage

Amazon $190

Mod: Price Error, orders are being refunded. Check your email for a $20 voucher.

  • Yep, got the cancellation / $20 voucher code email too. Knew it was too good to be true :(

  • Probably a pricing error, ordered one anyway to see what I receive.

  • Amazon specs say it has "Massive 250gb space". This is a bit weird

  • Do they have EVO mSata drives in them? If so, I might pull the trigger.

    • Yes, it is mSATA inside Anandtech disassembled the unit in this review, and shown it is mSATA inside.

    • Remember: mSATA is not the same as M.2.

  • In the description it says "Massive 250GB capacity". Hope that you really get the 1TB.

  • Says 250GB in the description so good luck with that! Amazon AU is not good at accurate descriptions and makes little effort to fix them when alerted.

  • amazon is the 250 GB drive price. Its an obvious error in the title.

    • Yeah it was just obvious.

  • Noo, it's a trap don't buy it. They will post 250 gigs out. I'll delete it now but I have also ordered 2 devices :(

    • -1

How do you know they will post 250GB SSD out?

  • +3

Model number is for 1TB. MU-PA1T0B/WW. Here’s hoping

  • ordered one

  • +3

Photos would be wrong too if it's a 250GB drive, as the 250GB is blue. Only the 1TB and 2TB drives are black.

  • Great deal!

    • -1

You won't be saying that when you get the 250GB drive instead. There's no way at this price that this is the 1TB model.

      • Only 250GB? My god!

        • Well this delivered is about the right price for the 250GB drive.

  • Just ordered one. Hope they send through the advertised hard drive, otherwise will return and request a refund. Model no matches the 1TB model.

    • -2

      otherwise ACCC?

    • -1

You will be getting the 250GB model for sure if they even send any thing more. The order might even get cancelled due to a listing error.

Notice how it says in the item description a massive 250GB capacity. Also considering that the price on kogan.com for the 1TB model drive is $509. And as you know on amazon.com.au this is from seller Kogan which is exactly the same business. Do you seriously expect $190 to be a legit deal?.

No this is not legit 1TB. It's 250GB.

    • Maybe voucher!

      • You won't get vouchers from third party seller. if it is Amazon themselves selling yes, you will have one voucher for price error.

  • +1

Kogan's real price for the T5 1TB. $509. That $190 is nothing more than an error in the product title and model number detail.

  • Meh, not too hard to return it if it's only 250gb.

    • -1

Which it will be. There's no way that Kogan will honour a $190 price for 1TB when they have it on their own web site store for $509. So expect to have to return this and waste employee peoples time.

      • they can either cancel the order and give us compensation for the mistake(99.99% chance it wont happen)
        Cancel the order.
Send a 250gb model and I can just return it within like 10 minutes of getting it.
        get a 1tb ssd(0000000000000.1%) chance

        so meh

        • -7

          meh.

All i can point to is the Kogan returns policy pertaining to Samsung branded gear.

"Change of Mind - All Other Brand Products
e.g Samsung, Apple, Nikon, Canon etc.

Please choose your product/s carefully, as Kogan.com do not usually provide refunds for products where you have simply changed your mind. This includes returns where you have selected a size of an item that doesn’t fit you, or where you simply selected the wrong product. Whilst change of mind returns are available for Kogan.com Exclusive Brands (as defined above), for all other product brands, change of mind returns are not permitted."

@hollykryten: it’s kogan on amazon not on kogan’s site.

        • +8

          @hollykryten:

I'm sure a law exists somewhere that says I have the right to a refund if the product is not as described.

        • -3

          @Jaso n:

It's still Kogan selling this gear and Kogan is the one directly shipping this out from their warehouse through their own sales platform. Amazon isn't seller as in it's not seller amazon.com.au so all returns would be directed to Kogan. You can't ship this back to Amazon. So Kogan's returns policy applies here for (All other brands).

It's like buying some thing from a third party seller business through eBay. You don't ship the goods to eBay do you when it comes to a return. No it gets shipped back to the seller and their own returns policy applies (for example The Good Guys selling through eBay).

        • @hollykryten:

They are using Amazon as a storefront. Amazon takes a cut of the payment and therefore(correct me if I'm wrong) they also takes responsibility for the sale.

        • -6

          @mec:

Amazon doesn't take a cut of your payment. They only charge the seller fees. That's between Kogan and Amazon only.

The payment money goes to Kogan. The same way if you were selling some thing on eBay. You get the full payment for the money. But you've got to give eBay some money in fees because you used their service to make a sale. But the sale was for you. But then you don't expect eBay to perform your product returns, right?. They won't have any thing to do with it as in the returns don't go to them. They don't do that all. Product returns for third party sellers are done by the seller.

Amazon will just redirect you to Kogan. You can have a whinge about it as much as you like to the ACCC or whatever else but it won't change any thing.

The only time you'd expect Amazon to take responsibility for returns is if it was sold by seller amazon.com.au themselves or from a seller that's using the fulfilled by Amazon service.

          @mec:
          Hi mec, you are correct.
Amazon has their 'A-to-z Guarantee' where they guarantee sales made by third parties via Amazon.com.au.

  • Bought and hoped for the best. Will report to Amazon for not as described if they send me a 250GB one.

    • -4

Just note that this is not sold directly by Amazon themselves. This is Kogan. You are buying from Kogan. It's not coming from any of Amazon's own warehouse nor by Amazon so they might redirect you to Kogan. Kogan's returns policy may apply.

      • Also notice how the title says "Samsung Portable SSD T5, 1TB, Deep Black…" and the model number is MU-PA1T0B/WW.

Can't sell me a 250GB when I ordered a 1TB. It will be at their expense if they decide to send a different product.

Also screenshot is ready for action.

        • Lol. You’re not getting a 1TB.

      • +3

        Kogan's returns policy may apply.

Their return policy has literally nothing to do with it if they send you a 250GB drive instead of the 1TB drive they were advertising. Hilarious you’d even suggest it (multiple times).

  • -4

    Ordered one on backorder

    Screen shot taken

Hopefully a voucher from Amazon if it's a price error

    • +21

No one deserves compensation for a price error. That's just pure greed. AKA EntitledBargain.

      • +2

        That's why we can't have nice things…

    • Amazon won't do that. I bought some headphones that were fake and never got delivered, Amazon will just refund

    • You mean a voucher from Kogan if it's a pricing error, as this product is being sold by Kogan. Amazon is just the middle man just like eBay is. It's not like when you buy some thing from a third party seller through eBay and then you expect eBay to give you a coupon.

  • Black colour is >500GB Blue is 250GB and 500GB

  • why the kogan didnt change and update the link

As a goodwill gesture, we would like to offer you a $20 eVoucher, which you can use on our full range of [e-mail address removed].

  • +1

Ok got an email, my order has been cancelled with a $20 voucher code

  • no vouchers for me

    • It was in a separate email. I thought the same thing when I got the cancellation email.

  • Nice of them to give us the $20 voucher

  • order cancelled // got 20$ voucher

  • +1

Cancelled with $20 voucher for $100 spend. So only 20% off, so not that great after all.

  • Looks like voucher is valid on Kogan site..?

  • +2

Cancelled, didn't get a voucher - email says my card wasn't charged but it was.
EDIT: Separate email from Kogan says it'll be refunded and includes voucher

  • Anyone see anything good for $100 on Kogan to redeem the eVoucher with?

  • Did you guys get your money back? Mine still not available

    • Nope, still haven't received mine. Sent a message today. Assuming weekend might have something to do with it - if not received by Wednesday I will contact my bank & try to issue chargeback.

      • Still haven't received money.

  • Quick question: are the $20 voucher transferable (able to be sold)?

    • I believe the code should be transferable. But once you assign it to an account, it can’t be transferable after that. I accidentally tried to apply the code to test, now the code is stuck onto my account.
