  • cant find the rates after promotional period expires

  • A flag fall charge of 19 cent per call applies

  • Indeed…the standard rates could be $50 per minute…probably not though….the site should be clearer!

  • Skype rules.

Pennysim + Pennytel account is cheaper $.12 untimed overseas calls no flag fall

    • yeah Pennytel much cheaper & that's their normal rate.

Why is is cheaper to call overseas than it is local -.-

    • Because the way these SIMs work is that they have a "free access" number which is actually a call-forwarding portal to overseas. Hence a call to a free access number + VoIP is cheaper than local calls where you have to pay "hand over" rates to the network of your destination.

    • the sharks will always gnaw at you where you most need a service. Calling local is needed all the time whereas calling international is not so neccessary and infrequent-if you even manage to connect due to time zone differences and the person actually answering there.

  • which network does it piggy back on? another free sim for the draw i guess.

A flag fall charge of 19 cent per call applies! And lots of other conditions…Not a bargain

  • Be careful with Lycamobile. They don't advertise all destinations numbers call rates (1300, 13, 1800, etc) so you might get hit with an extraordinary charge when calling those numbers.

Lebara Mobile appears to have introduced "Great New Rates" (their words) for some international countries…

    • don't use lebara.

      • Would you like to explain why not (Lebara), please?

  • I would be worried if it was post paid but prepaid is fine, free sim then get a $10 credit and worst that can happen is you get charged a little more, I have been using this and find it very cheap for some countries.

  • Just tried to ring to get some clarification - after 3 aborted calls to their 1300 number gave up - then tried to email - also useless need one of their sims before you can email. If this is service levels befor eyou get one hate to think what is like after. Avoid

  • There are a few threads on Whirlpool that contain disappointing reviews (to say the least) of Lyca.

Search forums.Whirlpool.net.au's "Mobile carriers" list for "Lyca" for a list of those threads.

On the basis of what others have put forward there,
I'm voting this one "not a good deal."
