Wasting no time to put the boot in, savage lol.

    • chokers..

Just curious how they’re bypassing the GST charge - not that I’m complaining! Is it because they have offices in Aus?

    • Yes, your online order will be processed by Sportsdirect AU.

      • Does that mean that the proce on their website is final.? One of my order status shows "held by customs"

        • I think that the price is final, but I've no idea about the order being held by customs. I'd suggest contacting their support about this as it's their responsibility to deliver your order to you.

  • I couldn't actually get the app to log in, but discovered that there is a code you can use on the desktop website: CL20

    Gives you 20% off.

    • +1

usually CL means clothing only. Did you get discount to other things?

      • It's clothing only, was posted a few days ago and I used it.

      • aah sorry my bad, I just happen to use it on clothing

  • One for all sports direct lovers, I know it's alot cheaper buying from these guys than paying for the same options here in Australia but be aware if things go wrong Sport Direct Custer service is terrible.

Also if you read any article wirten about Sports Direct in any UK website you'll see the business practice are very sceptical at best.

Another thing to note, you think you're getting a bargain with 20% off but as you're not a tax paying resident of the UK you are not required to pay VAT (goods and service tax) which in the UK is 20% and should be deducted every time an item is purchased and send outside the EU. If you look at it the other way, buy items that don't have the 20% off Sportsdirect are screwing the system by not giving you the discount required by UK law by not paying VAT while not passing on the required savings to the customer.

Sportsdirect used to take VAT off all orders to Australia but 2 years ago Sports Direct realised they could screw everyone making international orders and look good buy have constant 20% off sales.

    • +5

How I see it is that we get a deal compared to what we can get here. Does not matter whether they are screwing us as we get anyway screwed here :-)

I second the experience if you get a wrong item or end up having problems. CS is terrible. Being a long time buyer I have saved may be 10 times of what I have otherwise paid, so I am prepared to write it off if something goes wrong.

      • +1

Yeah, i see it like buying from gearbest/banggood/etc its cheap, and if it goes pear shaped & I can't get a refund, then all the money I've saved over the years will more then cover it.

Even with 20% VAT they're generally way cheaper then the locals, not just for the products, but shipping too.

You must be fun at parties

    • Gerry would say that such things should not be allowed..

    • +1

i'm a simple man, just want good price on good products.

jacka$$s here are too greedy to notice!!!

    • I understand you, but most of us purchasing are looking at the gains we're getting, not on the losses that SD are using to profit. Compared to stuff in Australia, almost everything sold by sportsdirect are a right bargain with or without discount codes.

SD have some of the fastest CS processes for any dropshipper of their size (let's not forget that they are a dropshipper guys!).

  • +2

No Croatia jerseys? Haha need to get on the bandwagon.

  • How are the sizes? Same as AU?

    • +1

Check the specific item guides. Rule of thumb UK = AU.

      • I honestly don't get why people don't just use EU sizing. It's a lot better than having to second guess yourself whether you're normally UK or US sizing.

      • Except for women's shoes apparently.

  • Ozbargain seems to have fallen in love with this site over the last week or so… I haven't ever really noticed deals listed for them much at all previously… Now every sale they have is posted and upvoted.

    • +2

Yeah maybe because their sales are genuine in that the 20% off includes stuff already on sale. Plus $2 postage.

Mustn't have been around for the great slazenger haul years back…

If you get delivered what you ordered, it's all good. But if you get a wrong item(s) delivered to you, like it happened to me 3 weeks ago, good luck with returns.

After 3 weeks now of trying to return their s*it, I get an email from Haydn asking me if I have an email address so they can pursue the matter! Someone with half brain would have thought if I've communicating with the customer via emails for the last 3 weeks (email is private since it's gmail), they clearly have an email address.

When I emailed them first about the issue, I took photos of the wrong item (wrong shoe size and colour), then I get a response saying tell us what are the reasons for returning the product, and no, It wasn't automated reply!

As far as I'm concerned, once this is sorted, I'd never buy from them again.

So far so good With the sports direct for me but I had the same problem with wiggle it came out even worse I lost time money and a lot of nerves stay away from wiggle

    • Why couldn't you just fill out the return form which is coming with their items and send it back (assuming it is worth sending those back), I'm always using PayPal for payments with them and if some items don't suit just send them back and use refund return via PayPal…

      • Paypal has $45 limit per TR. It usually cost $55 to send a pair of shoes. I got a Nike pair with 10mm difference on width. Sent them measurements with vernier caliper :-) and they refunded the cost. Pain to deal with, but if you are nice you will get it resolved to your favour.

        • exactly, I did returns 3 or 4 times with them, was successful every time and while it cost once additionally, it is better to get part of the payment back than nothing…

I used the cheapest air mail via aupost without tracking and last time was well below under $45 limit (depends on the weight though). Alternatively Sendle can be used - 1kg parcel with tracking is $36.31 with the courier picking up from your place…

      • Paypal is great for returns, done it a few times but each time I've had to pay between $70 and $90 to the UK. Ended up been out of pocket to the point of almost negating the discount, so be careful if you're ordering items with the thought of sending them back if they don't fit or needing to send more than one item back.

        • I think you're allowed up to 3 returns per transaction. So if you've got refunded returns to burn you can separate the return into 3 packages.

  • +1

TO Be honest it’s not coming home, evil laugh*

  • Anyone know why I can't use PayPal for payment when using the sports direct app?
This 20% discount is only available on the app. But on the app I don't have the option to pay with PayPal. Only available options are Apple Pay, Credit card and gift card. Any idea why that is?
PayPal makes it easier to refund things if thr are any issues with the shoe sizes. So don't wanna use any other payment option.

  • cannot make payment with paypal. sent email to customer service, no reply yet.

  • I paid with paypal, got email from paypal confirming the transaction. but no email from Sportsdirect at all.
checked the link on paypal email - says, sale cancelled.

NOw I tried to buy the same items again and they are 9 pounds more expensive.

    really over it now.

Just wanna add here that I bought a couple of items from sports direct & I received them. Got an email today sending me a refund for them. They said they were unable to deliver them to me…

    • Now that's customer service!

      • I messaged the OP about this. I'm concerned that Sports Direct may find the Aussie postal service not good enough to deliver here…

        • Well hopefully that's not the case, I've gotten a few well priced items from SD lately.

        • @Cheap Skate: Yeah, me too. And, the free world cup soccer ball :-D $30 at rebel sport.
