Maxi Cosi Luna G Style Harness Child Seat Steel Grey $299 + Delivery @ Baby Mode

40

Sale is only on this colour.
RRP is $549, but looks like the next cheapest is $349.

6months - 8 years fully harnessed. (though no one ever recommends strapping a 6 month in this style of seat)

Direct competitor is the Britax Maxi Guard Pro, but there is now a massive "street" price difference between the two.

Discontinued Colour.

  • 5-point racing harness for kids.

  • Had to have a seat after seeing the RRP.

  • Just an FYI that this is forward facing only and it's now recommended to face your child rearwards until the age of two.

  • What makes this the "direct competitor" of the Britax Maxi Guard Pro? I've heard great things about the BMGP (and Britax is a big name), but I've never heard of the Maxi-Cosi company at all.

    • Do you have a kid under 5?
I'd guess the Maxi-Cosi brand is #2 after Britax in the Australian Car seat market.
They seem to aim only at the high end of the market.

      • Just never heard of them (maybe I'm not part of that high end market)

    • Maxi Cosi is certainly a big name in child restraints too. It is just they dont seem to be very interested in the Australian market.

      • Maybe Britax is just marketed better here, never heard of MC and my little one is 3.5 so I thought I've seen my fair share of child related items.

  • +1

Was half interested until I saw it is $77.33 delivery to Perth….

    • yeah, delivery sure wears way some of the bargain

      • Maybe a Melbourne thing I guess - delivery to Melbourne was $7.09

  • need a couple of seats for my 3 year old.
Anyone got any good advice on the pick that should see him through to 8+(whenever tall enough not to need one)

    • We have 6 car seats (two in each of the three cars). My favourite is the Britax Maxi Guard Pro. It is easy to install, adjust and my son loves it. We have just replaced an older car seat with another Maxi Guard Pro and couldn’t be happier (well they could be cheaper ;) ).

      • Thanks.. Have done some googling and that and the baby love ezy grow both seem popular

  • Hey guys

This seat only has a 1 star safety rating, I would consider being careful with purchasing

    • the new CREP 2018 standard has this has 1 star as a ruling as they say it failed on a particular critical feature. However it can't be compared to the old 2012 standard that it's competitors have been ranked on. If you look into the detail, I believe the Britax Maxi Guard Pro (considered the best of this type of seat) also fails the same criteria in the 2012 standards test - though it hasn't been tested on the 2018 standard as yet).

I'm hoping for more test to be done soon so we can compare apples with apples. However reading all the forums, it looks like we need to take these test with a grain of salt. Apparently they have ranked the same seat with different names differently.

  • Carseat over $300 WITHOUT ISOFIX? No deal…

    • ISOFIX is only for seats catering for 0-4years. Stupidly the Australian Standards do not allow for ISOFIX on anything else.

Be aware that while this seat is pretty good, it also is one of the widest Type G seats available. Babylove Ezy Grow is also available for slightly cheaper and is also a decent Type G seat (it’s the old Britax Maxi Guard) and is narrower.

Definitely do a Type G over a booster seat though.

    • type g?

      • +1

Type G seats still allow the use of 5 point harness for children up to 8 years of age. Boosters, on the other hand, use the car's seat belt to secure the children in the seat.

  • Whilst Isofix is convenient, it's not perfect. Not every seat will fit tightly in every vehicle, depending on how it sits within the design of the car seat. Installers will still opt for the traditional buckle method if the seat doesn't sit tightly.
