Definitely not the cheapest price, and same price currently at BIG W https://www.bigw.com.au/product/nintendo-switch-console-neon…
Why post things just for the sake of posting?

They are not being a "knob", they are just pointing out that it is currently not the best deal available. Voting guidelines allow for a negative vote if the deal is not the best.

        • +6

          @strayan:

Why the hell did you upvote a deal that's not the best price? Do you want people to spend more money than should?

OP said it's not the cheapest price ever, but it's not even the cheapest price currently!

No one gives a crap if a price is the best X retailer has had if Y is currently cheaper and next door.

@c0balt: You are providing an answer to a question I didn't ask. I asked why people are pointing out that it's not the best deal available when it's already clearly stated in the original post.

Let me rephrase: are you able to explain why people are pointing out that this is not currently the best deal even after the original poster already said this was the case?

        • +3

          @strayan:

Because it's the reason for his neg. To leave a neg, you need a reason. That was his reason. Whether it was already stated in the description or not, is irrelevant.

        • I would argue he was being a bit of a knob.

Why post things just for the sake of posting?

This wasn't necessary. The comment he made would've been sufficient without "why post for the sake of posting?"

In addition, what Originality said is relevant:

It's a deal for those who might have a local ebgames but not bigw.
Had that issue when I lived in Canberra, our suburbs shopping area had ebgames but no big w.

Personally, I think it's definitely closer to a neg than a positive vote, but he raises a good point. For the majority of people, an EB Games deal is probably enough.

Probably didn't need to be posted as a deal. Seems odd to post a deal for "cheapest at this retailer" as the reason. Numerous comments pointing out that it's not the cheapest at the moment is good and important.

@strayan: Its clearly explained but it's still pointless. This is Ozbargain, not OZrecommededretailrprice.

Just neg the deal and move on…no need to put a harsh comments, let's make this world a better place

      • Don't you have to comment to neg the deal?

        • +1

You do, but you need to put "harsh" comments to neg a deal

        • I don't think so, just click the red minus button

It's a deal for those who might have a local ebgames but not bigw.
Had that issue when I lived in Canberra, our suburbs shopping area had ebgames but no big w.

      • Plenty of big w in Canberra. Has been for decades

        • +1

There wasn't one where I lived.
I was unable to drive due to trauma (I'd rather not explain the cause of this) so traveling to one that was more than a 5-6km away wasn't possible unless I took a taxi, which would defeat the savings.

Why not? Some corporate reward sites offer 10% off EB gift cards, which makes this a good option for those people.

      • Some people may have a Gift Voucher for Myers too. Forums are for those type of posts.

I don't consider this a bargain because it's also $399 at Big W (~$379 using Cashrewards 5% off WISH eGift cards).

    • how do wish gift cards work exactly
I see of lot of mentions of these cards, but I am unsure how to go about it
      thanks

You'll need to create a Cashrewards account first.

If you'd like to use the randomised OzBargain referral link, click here and then sign up (you'll get $10 of credit): https://www.ozbargain.com.au/api/referral/31

Once you've created an account go here and click Shop Now:
        https://www.cashrewards.com.au/woolworths-gift-cards

Then choose eGift Card and select the type of card you want (WISH eGift Card).

        • @j4ck hey man i was wondering if its fine if u bought the woolworths supermarket egift card to exchange to an ebay gift card? Coz i bought those instead of the wish egift card.

        • +1

@nahalyon: Not sure I understand what you're saying..

          • You bought a Woolworths Supermaket eGift Card
          • Your goal is to get an eBay Gift Card
          • But you also realised you accidentally bought a Woolworths Supermaket eGift Card instead of a WISH eGift Card

          Is this correct?

If so, you do exactly what you do to buy an eBay Gift Card with a WISH eGift Card.

That is, go to Woolworths and grab the eBay Gift Card you want and instead of paying with the WISH eGift Card, you pay with the eBay Gift Card. Just be aware that staff are instructed to not allow you to pay for Gift Cards with Gift Cards, so try and do it at self checkout. If staff are prompted to come and "verify" the gift card purchase, that itself is fine, as long as they don't notice (or don't care) that you're then using an eGift Card to pay afterwards.

      • Are you sure the 5% off applies to electronics and game consoles? I know the US site excluded them.

        • Pretty sure its everything on the Amazon Australia site from what I read on the Cashrewards site.

"This code can't be applied to some of your items."

    • eBay one doesn't work with video game consoles, unfortunately. Otherwise I'd pounce on it.
