I have this and it stretches about in windy conditions, has me worried about its long-term durability. might hold up, might not will have to see

So it can’t handle windy conditions? Might as well buy the $6 one from Aldi. Does anyone have any recommendation for a small umbrella that can handle wind?

      • not to mention how many umbrellas people forget to take with them when they leave

      • Blunt umbrellas

      • I'm in Perth, so forget about it for more windy cities like Melburn. On on hand it can be a limitation of small umbrellas, but on other hand I expected more tbh

just buy a larger one is my recco.

      • Yeah you need any umbrella that has a gap at the top, double canopy umbrellas allow the wind to get out instead of blowing your umbrella to bits.

Woodworm ones I bought 3 years ago are still going strong, minor damage best value for $25 for 3 delivered to the door. Haven't seen those deals for a while…

        • Yeah I have the 3 from when the deal was popular here, was looking for something smaller.

      • Uniqlo has a compact one I purchased in Japan, I assume they sell it here… It's great with wind!

    • I have it as well.

It's too small for me but I've been impressed with how it's handled wind so far.

    • Try it out today not too windy. It is really windy sometime.

    • ive used mine 3-4 times, 2-3 in really heavy wind/rain and its done its job everytime

    • okay so if this one is no good, what is the best bargain umbrella that is big and sturdy?

Don't most umbrellas offer uv protection? So long as it's not made of clear plastic!

Kind of like standing in the shade vs in the full sun.

    • Don't most umbrellas offer uv protection

Yep. Maybe it's UV treated materials so it won't degrade as fast in sunlight and they went a bit too far marketing it.

Here is a tip if it's made in China, if you assume it includes a positive attribute and use the word "maybe", then it isn't there. They will never over-deliver. At best, it will meet your expectations.

  • I think main concern for me will be its durability to withhold the winds we get in Melbourne.

Need recommendation on an umbrella which is strong for super windy conditions as a few of them Ive used have broken with the wind.

    • Blunt umbrellas great but exxy

  • Have a look at this for a similarly priced umbrella. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Quality-1-2-meters-large-fol…

  • Have it for about 3 months now - nothing happened to it even during recent windy Sydney weather. I think it is as durable as any other decent umbrella. I love everything about it except for the wobbly telescopic stick - the only part that doesn't feel premium. Great product anyway, looks nice, fits backpack, water reppelant (really dries quicker) and automatic folding.
Will buy another one if needed.

  • I've had mine for about 4 months and used it alot during a recent trip to europe. Durability seems quite good. Solidly built, but not significantly more so than a $15 umbrella. Youre essentially paying for the auto collapse mechanism and the xiaomi brand.

$30 is a good price for local stock. Maybe get two and use the 10% code to make them $27 each.

  • To watch how it works!!
