New Crossover in Melbourne

What price have you recently paid to have a standard 3m wide cross over completed?

Edit.

Cross over = a section between the front of the property and the road used for vehicles to enter the property.

  • WTF?

  • Username checks out

  • You mean a driveway??????????????????????????????

    • +2

No, a drive way is a drive way.

A cross over is from the boundary of the property to the road. The cross over connects to the driveway

      • sounds like your going to struggle to get a response here.

Remember many authorities (ie councils) require you to obtain a permit to reconstruct a crossover, and definitely to modify or move one. The fee can be quite hefty from north of $1200.

        • Permit has been obtained.

Now wanting to get a gauge of cost of constructions

Yes I can get quotes, which I will. Though I wanted to do some homework first

      • Still don't know what a crossover is.

A man who dresses in ladies clothing?

        • @Euphemistic:
          I believe that's a fly over.

  • +1

    Yes

  • I remember my builder quoted me 5K including the permit cost but I didn't get it done.

  • Footpath?

OP needs to post a diagram created using paint.

  • Change the title to driveway crossover so it makes more sense. I've never heard of a crossover, thats the only reason I looked here.

    $90/sqm.

  • Do you mean the nature strip? Really don't understand, and live in Melbourne and own a house, hadn't heard anything.

  • any land outside of your boundary is someone else's responsibility. why would you want to spend $1000s of dollars on property you don't own?

    • Cause crossovers are to be built and maintained by the property owner in Victoria

      • Thank for that.

Abutting property owners being responsible for the cost of maintaining council land is messed up.

        • No it’s not. Can you Imagine how much it would cost for the council to mow all nature strips? That cost would be how much your rates increase. It is easier to make the adjacent landholder maintain a small amount in addition to their own property.

  • Please post a paint diagram with a stick figure standing in the spot you are talking about.

  • Needs a permit. Should be nominal but the concreter can probably put it in with a sketch.

Had ours done ages ago. Say $1000-$1500. Just call around and get some proper quotes with the inclusion of permits.

  • I'm still confused.

Do you mean the footpath and front verge? In NSW the local council builds the footpath. I think we just have to make enough noise to them to get them to footpath the whole length of the road. We have to maintain the front verge (grassed area) but they lay the turf.
