Hi~ pardon my ignorance - but how do I use Cash Rewards or Shopback? Then, how do I combine them to get the best value? (To quote Pauline Hansen) Please explain. Thank you.

You cant combine them. To use them, go to their website and sign up, create an account etc. Then when you want to use them for a purchase, go to the cashrewards or shopback website, search for the store you wish to purchase from, and there will be a link to open that store's website.
By opening the store's website from the cashback site it identifies that you have clicked through using cookies or some such magic. Once you have opened the stores site you can browse to what you wish to buy and purchase as per normal. Shortly after you'll get an email saying how much cashback you'll get, and a few weeks to a few months later (depending on the store) the money will be available to withdraw to your bank account, as long as the balance exceeds the $10 minimum.
Make sure you dont use an adblocker, or turn it off, as it messes with the process. Cashrewards is associated with our very own ozbargain member TightAss, and has a chrome browser app allowing you to click through easier, while shopback is the new kid on the block and offering higher cashback offers occasionally in an effort to get more market share.

Wut! Who does that! First step is always to make a forum post, then contact the business, then do the preliminary basic research.
It sounds like you didn't pardon his ignorance
- You click through from cash rewards and it registers the click but through some magic it doesn't detect your purchase so you get nothing (my last 2 transactions even with adblocker off).
- Lodge a claim and attach image of the invoice then they say that not good enough and want a pdf even though seller sent html email and not pdf invoice.
- Whine about it on forums
This happens to me often, but they've always credited the amount after sending a claim through.

Make an account on either CR or SB
Find the retailer you want to buy from and and click on their link via CR or SB and it will open a new window with that site (must use this window as it tracks your purchases). Make purchase as per normal and sale should be tracked.
