When you see things worded that way it's just an easy way to refer to the whole name space.
good considering wholesale price is about $6.50
How much is it after the first year?

The renewal price is cheaper at Zuver $10.50
unlike the Generic Top-Level Domains (gTLD) where there's pretty much no restriction is applied, .com, .net, etc
Country-Code Top-Level Domains (ccTLD) for Australia there are restrictions
In accordance with Australian Domain Name Policy, to be eligible to register .com.au and .net.au domain names, registrants must be one of the following:
- An Australian registered company
- Trading under a registered business name in any Australian State or Territory
- An Australian partnership or sole trader
- A foreign company licensed to trade in Australia
- Be an owner of an Australian Registered Trade Mark
- An applicant for an Australian Registered Trade Mark
- An association incorporated in any Australian State or Territory
- An Australian commercial statutory body
gTLD is usually cheaper in long term or bundled free with hosting packages
nish TLD could be very cheap or more expensive
With these cheaper deals guys, just make sure you're getting like a "zone manager" included. A domain is not much good if you can't point it at the right e-mail/web servers or whatever.
Speaking from experience as a customer decided to ignore our quote of $34.95 for 2 years and went with an el cheapo mob (admittedly a few years ago), then promptly found out to modify their DNS with this mob they had to pay another $79.95 and they couldn't transfer out in the first year. Zone management is included from my wholesaler for free.
In other words, that registrar had them by the balls.
I'm sure it doesn't happen any more or not so much but please make sure you know what you're getting. Fine print.
Great tip, Ramrunner.
It's not quite as common nowadays but it's always terrible to hear when people fall victim to that particular ploy.
Fortunately, VentraIP Australia offers free DNS hosting to all customers so you no need to worry about any hidden fees or unexpected charges with us!
If anybody has any questions about our products or ongoing promotions, we always recommend speaking to our local team who is available 24/7 and can be contacted via phone, email, and live chat: https://ventraip.com.au/contact-us
VentraIP and Zuver have always included everything that one would need with their domain name registration.

It's still happens with some of the larger companies here in Australia and a lot of overseas company still. The good news is there's a lot of great choice these days and your correct buyer should be aware. Companies have tried to combat this by actually now giving them things but restricting the use or what you actually get.
For example giving you free DNS hosting but not allowing you to do the most common thing you would require DNS Hosting for like excluding MX records.
Correct - I've also seen one where you were only allowed 2 DNS records modified per day unless you paid premium.
Really annoying when the customer wants G-Suite for example and I need at least 10 or so DNS entries for all the sub-domains and fall back MX records etc.
Had to do it over 5 days.
Ludicrous.
Look at least I've raised the issue and I'm glad Ventra doesn't conform to those tactics.
Netregistry want 3 times more for a com.au renewal!!
Time to change.
You mean .com.au
