Our Stocktake Sale is now on and we've dropped the price on the JVC DLA-X5900 4K e-shift projector even further!

Upgraded for 2018, JVC’s DLA-X5900 remains the industry’s most affordable Custom Install D-ILA projector. It delivers stunning picture detail and an unprecedented value thanks to JVC’s exclusive 4K e-shift5 technology. It accepts native 4K 60P (4:4:4) content through Full Speed 18Gbps HDMI/HDCP 2.2 compatible inputs and up-converts existing 1080P sources to 4K precision. Three discrete D-ILA devices produce a stable image with no flicker and class-leading 40,000:1 Native Contrast Ratio for peak whites and deep blacks. For 2018, JVC projectors include upgraded e-shift5 technology for improved 4K resolution, a new Direct Mode with low latency and advanced HDR processing for brighter, more dynamic HDR images.

Available in both black and white, this projector is one of our most popular projectors. When purchasing, place your colour preference in the 'Order Notes' section.

Hey Dan, what's the lamp life on these and how much are replacements? Also any idea on the refresh rate?

    • +3

Lamp life is approx. 4,500 hours in low mode, and regarding a lamp replacement, we haven't had to order any since selling these projectors so I can't give you an exact price, however, for a genuine lamp for a JVC projector they can typically cost between $600-$700.
      Refresh rate I believe is 96hz :)

+1 for having the "last sold" price (even better.. it's in the title!)

  • Is this the DLA-X590R in the USA?

    • Yep, just had a look at the specs and it's the exact same! :)

  • Would this ceiling mount cut the mustard?

Yes ZZ, I use this exact model with my JVC X55. Bought it off Amazon for $150 a few years ago, awesome mount. …. expensive here in Oz.

      • Just ordered one for ~$165 AUD delivered.. Maybe up for GST on that now also.

Smart move… hey my only advice is consider reinforcing the ceiling above the plasterboard with additional wooden joists above where you place the mount. these are heavy units and although the peerless is rated to 22kg your ceiling might need some help. I’m sure Rio could have done a good deal on a mount if you bought the projector off them as well.

Stereo.net.au is a good place to go for advice if you aren’t already a member. Good calculators for screen size, mounting distance etc when you provide room dimensions

Either way you won’t regret it. Awesome quality and easy to mount the unit and make adjustments yourself.

        • I cant comment on the mount as I have no experience with these in particular, but looking at the specs it should be fine. We've mounted these on many standard celings, however I agree with the comment below about having extra support if you can get it there. You can never be too careful! :)

        • @markybee: Yes totally agree. I have done this for my current ceiling mounted projector. But this puppy would certainly be heavier.

      Hey Akula;

      Depends on what you spent…..

      Some quick sums.

Projector $4k (which is a good price but about right for this range of projector)

      Mount $ 200

Screen $600 to $2000 as a rough guide

So $5k and you could have a 4 K screen say 130” CinemaScope. This is roughly what I spent and I run my ps4 pro and Xbox scorpion to it. Factor in an AMP and speakers.

    • These projectors are definitely worth the buy especially for this price! Perhaps use it in another room if you've got the space :)

    • I have a large LED 4k and n remote roll down 120" screen that drops down 20mm in front of the TV from the ceiling. Best of both worlds. Screens are nowhere near $600 to get a decent or even great quality one, they range from $150 - $300.

  • Any deals on 7900 or 9900?

    • X7900 we currently have for $6799 down from $7499 (RRP $8499)
X9900 we currently have for $8999 (RRP $10499)

Come into the store and speak to one of our staff members and they might be able to help you out further depending on what you're after :)

    Nice price.

  • Rep, any chance you could do any deals on cheaper projectors? I need one for work in a couple of weeks, a short throw projector would be perfect. I missed a steal on OzBargain which I'm kicking myself over. Bonus if you can time it around the 3rd week of July as I'll be a bit richer then :)

    • We have some good deals on a few of the less expensive projectors at the moment. What sort of budget did you have in mind? We have a couple of the BenQ and Optoma projectors on sale :)
