I bought my wife a Xiaomi Mi 2 10,000 Power bank and she immediately gave me 'that' look. Too big; too heavy. I am struggling to find a power bank of decent quality that is VERY small. That is the key driver here. I think a single recharge for her iPhone 7 or 8 will be all she needs to get through and I don't even believe a super fast discharge is important. Any suggestions?

Definitely take a look at the Xiaomi 5000mAh. It's uch smaller than the 10000mAh 2 variants. Otherwise you'll have to look at some of the cylinder shaped ones. Unless you get a decent brand, they'll be low quality.

i guess it is not the size of the wand after all but the magic of the performer!
Keep in mind iPhone 7 has 1960mAh battery, and while I don't know the exact math (and quality of cells in charger has huge impact) I can confidently say you need at minimum a 3000mAh battery pack.
My real question, is why she NEEDS a battery pack and yet at the same time doesn't want to deal with some quite minimal weight… Try battery case maybe?
She doesn't mind dealing with minimal weight that is why I asked for a small power charger that was light weight like the lipstick ones that were recommended. I bought her a big heavy Xiaomi Mi 2; the lipstick ones are a 1/4 of the weight (and of course have less features and power). She doesn't want it bolted on the phone as she only wants to use it when her power is low. Having it on the phone all the time would be painful as the phone would feel twice is heavy to hold. The charger would be in her car and only plugged in when needed or in a handbag.
