Had a Delongi Dishwasher Repaired under Warranty That Was 6 Months out of Warranty

Just wanted to share a positive story about having success with an out of warranty claim.

My Delongi dishwasher is 2.5 years old (2 year warranty) and it stopped working with no power. I contacted the retailer - Good Guys and they fobbed me off saying there is nothing they could do.

I was kinda annoyed and ended up getting someone out to look at it. He said the power supply board was broken and it would be about $300 to fix it (paid $589). He also told me that the board was manufactured in 2012 (I purchased the dishwasher in 2016) I was pretty pissed and decided to pursue the matter, I went back to Good Guys and told them I wanted to pursue the claim, they fobbed me off again and said I had to deal directly with the Delongi.

I contacted Delongi and pointed out the board was 4 years old when I purchased it and that they should pay for repairs on that basis. They agreed to send out a repair guy and he just left and repaired the dishwasher under warranty.

He said the board has a fuse on it but the fuse is soldered in (defeats the purpose of having a fuse really). He mentioned other brands have fuses that are easy to change. It wasn't the fuse it was an IC that I could see was burnt out.

Whilst I am happy with the outcome I probably won't be buying Delongi in the future, I will be going for better brands like Bosch.

Why? If anything, I would expect that you wouldn't buy from Good Guys again because they kept fobbing you off. Bosch sent out a technician to fix the problem on first contact.

With the dishwasher itself, even if you had another brand - if the fuse blew, you'd still require a technician to come in and do the fix.

    • The service guy who I paid to come out said he wouldn't recomend Delongi which is my main reason.

It used to be that fuses could be easily replaced by the user, but those days are gone.

the board was manufactured in 2012 (I purchased the dishwasher in 2016)

a properly designed, assembled and stored pcb may last for a good 20 years. it's now uncommon for old pcb to be in operation 40 years or more after they turn it on.

I dont see how the date the board was manufactured makes any difference, nice outcome though

  • DeLonghi in my experience are a decent brand. No company has a 0% fail rate and below a certain threshold, it's how they deal with these issues that set the companies apart. Personally I would also go with Bosch (or Miele), but one experience certainly wouldn't be reason enough to stay away from DeLonghi imho - and in fact their response in this case makes me more likely to consider them.

  • I've found delonghi has a great aftersales service.

    • The authorised service guy said Delonghi parts are the cheapest so that supports what you say. I guess I might be being a bit harsh on them.
