I am not downvoting the deal but FWIW I have this drill and have used for several years. IMHO its pretty crap, no way to adjust the speed other than the trigger which is really jumpy so you'll be drilling metal/masonary and it's very hard to keep at low speeds. The no chuck drill bit sucks as well - a proper metal chuck would be vastly superior.

The hammer function is good for very light masonary use only - forget about concrete. It's pretty gutless overall and definitely not to be confused with the old Makita products that established the brand.

In hindsight I'd have stuck with by cordless for regular drilling in wood etc and bought an Ozito SDS+ rotary hammer drill for the odd masonary use. It's very rarely used by me as doesn't do much well at all.

No idea on the accessory kit - but imagine it's marginally better than the generic Craftright stuff.

    • Got a Hilti my dad bought about 20yrs ago and still unbelievable tuff after thousand uses. Even the sds bits that came in the kit have latest, not as sharp but still do the job quick and clean…. Now where can one even get Hilti by walking in

There is a definite cost benefit to using 13mm bits though, esp if you are not using itto drill through concrete all the time (e.g. brick and render)

    • This is cracking advice and I was going to give the same myself. I brought the Ozito Rotary Hammer 5 years ago and it drills through brick and concrete like they were butter.

Impact hammer drills are a complete waste of time.

      • Hey Wallyt99, which ozito do you have?

    • Thanks for the heads up, saved me $79.

    • I have this drill as well and think it sucks. I agree with all your points. Had it for years and I really dont use it anymore.

  • Can I use these to do normal house jobs like drilling through house walls or fence walls?

    • +1

Short answer is yes you can use this to drill a hole on a gyproc wall, wood. But it can get bit messy with brick and concrete. This drill is not a very powerful one. Like Nikko said, this is not a good drill for more demanding stuff like drilling concrete and some old bricks. Also, it will struggle with hole saw on hardwood.

      • Ok thanks many. Anything you can recommend for general house duties?

        • Will you be drilling through masonry or just wood/metal/plastic?

        • @Luckypenguin: Masonry, wood, hard plastic most likley. Metal, hardly but might be once a year.

        • @house2015: You can buy any cheap one like Ozito for that purpose. You can get this for $59.

I own one. Not a good drill. Chuck grip is weak and slips often. Hammer action is weak, especially combined with the weak chuck grip which compounds the problem, making even small 5mm holes take several attempts, and by the end of it you've (profanity) the hole too wide your nylon bit can't grip the hole.

  • Cute :)

      Here! I'll give you DeClap!

  • I mainly need one for screw driver, I guess its better to get a impact drill instead?

    • big yes for that, although if its small screws say for appliances/electronics a small 12v dedicated screwdriver would be more suitable

Sounds like this is NOT a skookum choocher

  • Just bought one. Person on checkout said "keep the receipt for warranty".. Then as I was leaving person on the door said. "make sure you keep your receipt".

Never been told that on any product I've bought from bunnings before…

I have a feeling ill be seeing them again soon with my receipt! Doesn't fill you with confidence!
