The Sizzle is an email newsletter that summarises they day's tech news so you don't have to wade through the piles of crap on social media, RSS feeds and tech blogs.

Here's some sample issues:

Highly recommend! A great way to get the best tech bargains which are curated nicely.

Great daily tech news round up and the daily tech bargain round up's are awesome also.

I definitely recommend this. I was very skeptical about email newsletters in general, and The Sizzle turned me around completely. The casual / Aussie writing style definitely makes tech news easy to consume.

I'm a long time subscriber to The Sizzle. It's my main source of tech news and bargains.

    Highly recommend!

I feel like I might be surrounded by either sock puppets or friends of The Sizzle.

Go easy on the shill comments.

4 of 530 subscribers just happened to be browsing OzBargain within minutes of this deal going live? Including one who just signed up to OzBargain today?

Not saying that this may not be a good product, but the quick wave of super positive comments will turn people off.

    • I lol'd at the comments. And only 1 of the commenter +ve this deal

Did you wanna check my papers, champ? Maybe tattoo a tattoo on my arm to keep track of me?

I—like I imagine most OzBargain users—have had very little reason to actually create an account. I've been receiving the newsletter and frequenting the site for years(?).

I simply saw on Twitter that The Sizzle was on OzBargain, and as a longtime The Sizzle subscriber and OzBargain user took it upon myself to create an account to give a honest review.

If you still think I'm a sock puppet: Anthony went on holiday for a long time very recently and had guest writers write for him. The quality dropped significantly, with the provided summaries routinely containing typos or blatant misunderstandings of the topics being discussed. There was over a month of content that I paid for and didn't enjoy.

Yet I'm still around because I enjoy Anthony's writing that much, and don't hold it against the guest writers.

Trust me, a vast vast vast majority of people have much better things to do than create fake accounts for a newsletter that brings in a measly $5 a month to try to rope in some cheap OzBargain users.

I don't find it hard to believe that there's a strong correlation between OzBargain users and The Sizzle subscribers. Anthony often writes about the best deals on Ozbargain… and the way he writes is very much from the perspective of a typical Aussie tech enthusiast… sceptical, no-BS and looking for the best deal! I'm a subscriber too and I really enjoy my daily read. I like the cut of Anthony's jib particularly. He started MacTalk back before that got taken over by Niche Publishing and that was a cool site too.

i agree +1 to the sizzle

I've been a subscriber for about 18 months, it's perfect for me because I simply do not have the time to keep up with all the relevant tech news on top of domestic and international politics/current affairs, nor do I have the time to keep up with all the deals relevant to me on this website.
It's extremely handy to have both of those things curated for me. I've said it before on twitter but I've saved hundreds and hundreds of dollars on purchases from deals in The Sizzle. For me, the sub pays for itself.

I'm not a subscriber, but I vouch for the OP - decryption is a long-time Ozbargainer of some repute (and a genuinely lovely person).
Does anyone else remember his hundreds of thousands (millions?) of Qantas frequent-flyer points for micro-transactions trick that was reported nationally after initially being posted here?

Transparency note: I worked with decryption several years ago.

    Edited to add:
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/90255
    nearly 1,000,000 FF points…

Thanks for the kind words! All those QFF points are gone now - used em all up. I don't think there will be another sweet offer like that ever again.

  • We like to see prices. Bargains have prices.

  • That’s good stuff.

been a subscriber for I think ~6months now and its been great.
    definitely worth signing up guys.

Back when I was a student I had all the time in the world to read news sites one by one.
now that I'm self employed I have no time, but still interested in my tech, this is great rundown of the day's events
