      postage of $18.xx is mandatory

  • looks like its just the headset not the kit. would get much more expensive if you dont have those already?

Vive Pro Kit is also $1599. Lowest in AUS.

    • Is that a pre order for the full kit? It says it includes the updated base stations and controllers, but there is nothing on the HTC site for this bundle yet…

I sent them a message a week ago, they didn't even bother to reply. So I ended up going through HarveyNorman (who have it delivered directly from HTC Aus) @ $1799. The SKU on the DickSmith page "should" be the full (updated 2.0 trackers/controller). But other sellers with the same SKU couldn't confirm which trackers/controllers they were, the ones that did confirm 2.0 were higher price wise. Some even said it's 1.0 trackers/controllers. Harvey Norman was the lowest price I found that confirmed 2.0 trackers/controllers.

Vive Pro full kist is $1999 on HTC Website https://enterprise.vive.com/au/

        • Yeah the one directly through HTC is definitely the 2.0 tracker/controller version. Not all the ebay resellers are selling it with the same tracker/controllers though. So be weary.

    • Sold out. The Pro is a very hard sell to 99% of people at that price anyway

      • Back in Stock. Go 1%ers !

    • Update: Harvey Norman just got back to me saying it's on back-order and that HTC has advised it will only be shipped out late September 2018. This is after they've charged me. So was given the option to cancel the order.

Ramblings from another post regarding Vive vs Vive Pro:

Weight has increased but balanced of the weight has improved, so while the weight balance is great the increased weight is felt on faster head turning games.

The strap on the Vive Pro is more comfortable and makes it easier to place on the head, however the grip isn't as secure on this strap.

The increase in resolution is great and noticeable however, it still isn't high enough that you can't see the screen door effect, though it is lessened. It isn't high enough resolution yet to make working in a VR office possible, we aren't close to that yet with VR. The higher resolution requires a more powerful PC to maintain stable high fps.

So combine with the increased weight and the weaker strap it makes action gaming a problem with the headset moving. So if you want to play a game like Robot Recall, Fallout 4 VR or Lone Echo it is actually more of a problem to game in.

The moniker Pro is apt, it is their target audience for this model. Think of show rooms, quicker to pull on and off for visitors, smaller play times makes the increased weight negligible but the weight balance makes it feel more comfortable. The added in headphones, the improved cabling make it fantastic for professionals such as those showing off the expensive 3D architecture model they are trying to sell. The additional cost to those Professionals is negligible, but to home users wanting to play 3D games for a couple of hours, those additional costs and the decrease comfort for long time use is a downside.

This isn't gen 2 of the Vive, it's still gen 1 and it's just their Pro model. I could not recommend to home users.

Ramblings from another post regarding Oculus Rift vs Vive:

The most reviewers state that the full Oculus Rift package is a better experience than the Vive, but not by much. The Oculus Rift has some downsides in that you really should buy an additional sensor for a better 360 experience, it does require more work setting up, you need more cables running to the sensors around the room and you also have to accept that Facebook owns Oculus Rift and may accidentally collect data.

A possible decider if choosing: If you are using VR in one room and not moving your setup around much, pick Oculus, if you might use it in different rooms or take it to a friends house semi-regular, pick Vive.

    • Fabman im a VR noob but would like to get into it and run Vive or maybe even Vive Pro. After 8 years I finally upgraded my laptop and got a Triton 700. After getting a Conductanaut repaste to deal with all thermals do you think to 1080 maxQ will grant a good experience on the Vive/pro? I don't want to blow the money if it can't
