I'm looking to buy a drone ~$200-300

I'm looking to buy a drone, it's for educational/fun purpose for a group of disadvantaged children ages 7-11 with very little to no previous experience flying drones. I'd like to be able to see the flight real time, I believe this is called FPV, preferably with goggles. Some self flying capabilities would be great e.g. auto lift off, altitude hold, auto return when out of RC reach etc. An 720p camera would be good and ability to easily swap extra batteries is a must. I don't mind buying from sites like Gearbest and similar. The budget for the drone is about $200-300, plus FPV goggles and spare battery. I've been researching online but I'm completely new to the drone hype and there seems to be so many brands and types out there, it's very confusing if not frustrating.

DJI Tello isn't bad - it's under 100g so excluded from most restrictions.

In case the OP is not aware of what thatonethere is stating: there are restrictions for flying drones above a certain weight (100g)

      • Thank you for the link with the regulations, it really changes my perspective. I would have gone and bought regardless of the weight and I also didn’t know about the night time flying restriction. It doesn’t help that the area is near Sydney airport either. I also read the govt is preparing a ban on flying drones near jails in NSW, and with Long Bay jail accross the road from the planned usage area I wonder if flying the drone outside the jail will earn me a free visit to the inside as well.

    • It looks very interesting, at a first glance it seems like it’s what I’m looking for. Do you know if the goggles must be the same brand or there are other compatible models?

The Tello is a solid suggestion. Just be aware if you take it outside, smaller drones are susceptible to gusts of wind.
