Is it possible to get Medicare rebates after you seen a specialist and then get a Gp referral? Because last week I spent $450 on a medical specialist and want to claim back some of it and only realise it needs a referral.

this has happened to me a few times. yes you can, but it needs to be dated for the SAME DAY you saw your specialist.

Just to clarify as per my response below, but this can only be done if the referral is done on the same day. Referrals cannot be back dated without being considered medicare fraud.
Why don't you find out for yourself and come back and tell us, oh that's right you don't get back to people on your forum posts.
Sounds familiar to that one time you replied in your last post
That was in response to me :)
OzBargain isn't Google. Here, in the OzB spirit, I'll throw you a freebie:

Next time see your GP before the specialist.
GPs can't technically back date referrals.
I can comment on this as a GP.
Referrals cannot be backdated under any circumstances. If you went to your GP same day, you could get a referral done and that would suffice.
Some non-GP specialist clinics will advise patients to get a back dated referral from their GP or request this from us directly; however this amounts to medicare fraud and is illegal. What do you mean I don’t get back to people?
So any update?
Bahahahaha
No. How would that work?
