GamesDeal.com Have Taken My Money and Are Ignoring Me

So I saw this deal (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/384550) and made a purchase. I had some intial problems logging into my newly created account. But when I finally could log in, I noticed the order page had no history of orders despite just making one.

I received no confirmation email from gamesdeal—nothing. The only email I received was an email receipt from PayPal saying that the payment had been made.

I thought maybe there was just a delay, but after a few hours and still nothing, I emailed them. I got a reply saying:

I’ve since emailed them 3 more times saying that I never received a confirmation email despite having made an order and having paid. The funds have been taken from my PayPal account, and the payment was made to GIory Profit International Limited ([email protected]). The payment shows the item numbers in the description (of the Xbox Live code), so yes I made an order. Having been put off by all of this, I requested to just get a refund, but I’ve since not received any further replies.

I have no idea what is going on, but something clearly went wrong at their end on their system, and now I feel like I’m being ignored. I can’t believe how dodgy this whole purchase has been.

    Well, claim with Paypal. Should be easy when the seller confirms there's literally no order.

      Can't contest a claim if there's no order, or, they discover your order "miraculously" and it gets fulfilled.

      • What? No - you paid the seller for something - the Paypal transaction detail is there. The seller now says they can't find your order. Seems like an open-and-shut case for Paypal to refund the money.

        If the seller miraculously finds it later… well either you get the item or… you get the item.

          I meant the vendor can't contest the OP's PayPal claim if there's no order — agreeing with you.

          @QW3RTY: Ah right. My bad. You did write they "can't contest the claim". Be right back getting (more) coffee…

  • Occasionally PayPal processes a transaction but the vendors don't recieve the payment. I have experienced this several times with using PayPal to purchase online from village cinemas. I've even had the PayPal email saying all is good but nothing from village.

    First time it happened it really pissed me off as I thought I'd be chasing money. But everytime the money has been credit back onto my account after 3-5 days

    Anyway, if the situation is as you've described I think you'll find PayPal reimburse you shortly. Alternatively simply lodge a complaint with PayPal. I think you'll find the issue on the PayPal side.

    • The thing is, I paid with funds from my PayPal balance, so the funds had been sent 100%.

  • I opened a dispute which got the attention of the seller. They sent me the code and asked me to close the dispute.
