  • Got one! Thanks. :)

  • Thanks!

    • think i grabbed the last copy of ps3 version :)

  • +1

tempting but I heard its not very good.

    • You heard wrong.

      • +2

        Ymmv actually

      • Well to be fair I heard it was even more linear and repetitive than the older FF titles and I already found those tedious.

        • +4

          Try

-Walking in a straight line from A to B fighting enemies X Y and Z on this line for 10-15 hours of tutorial.

-An admittedly beautifully-rendered world you cannot interact with in any way and invisible walls everywhere.

-Characters who make you want to pull out your hair (you truly haven't heard horrid Aussie accents till you've played this game)

-A mumbo jumbo story of l'cie, fal'cie, cocoon, pulse etc. Confused? You should be, because characters will be yammering this the second you hit 'new save file' and there won't be an introduction for the first 3 hours.

-A battle system which you just mash X to allow the computer to do all the micro-management.

I bought this game day one (regrettably) because I absolutely loved XII, but was extremely disappointed. The mainstream demographic seems to hate it as well, while the only people I've met who had a positive impression were absolute Final Fantasy diehards. And not just the fair weather fans (they hated it too), but the type of fans who'd literally buy a shrink-wrapped turd if it had "Final Fantasy" on it. Buyer beware.

    price has dropped as the new Final Fantasy XIII-2 game has been announced;

    • What's with the numbering? What's wrong with XIV?

      • +1

Each FF number is a different world.

      • +1

Because XIV is already reserved. If SE actually named all their millions of spin-offs with numbers, the series would actually start with the 'L' numeral.

  • +2

Nubzy, only mum/dad/fanboy gamers will think their getting a good game. Unless
You can get a good trade deal keep your money

  • +3

Soldout on PS3. I wasn't that tempted though as I used to own it and it was awful :P

Apparently "gets good" if you can put up with it for 20 hours

  • got mine for $15 delivered aussie stock two weeks ago @gamesplus.

  • +1

Missed out! I enjoyed this game and wouldn't mind my own copy. Lightning is hot. :)

A review from Metacritic, sounds fun ;)

It takes more than graphics to make a game, and Final Fantasy XIII offers very little else other than eye candy. Ultimately, this latest addition to the Final Fantasy series is a pompous and masturbatory affair, created seemingly to promote the developer's ego first, and the player's enjoyment second.

    • Exactly what I heard from most people. I might pick it up as a rental… if they are lucky.

    • Haha That's succinct, yet very appropriate. +1

A combination of boring combat (mash "X"!), disappointing story, ridiculous scripting and irritating voice acting made playing this game a torturous experience.

This is the only Final Fantasy title I have not finished - I kept playing it hoping it would get better but it never did. It IS pretty, but that's about it in my opinion.

Worth $18 delivered? Sure - but only if you have nothing better to spend your money on.

      • Impressive, I stopped at 12. :P
But bargain wise, you can trade 3 games like these for lbp2 which u can sell for $70 easily.

  • would have looked at a ps3 version but heard it was burning out ps3's????
Caused major issues with ps3….anyone confirm or did firmware updates resolve the issues?

  • What i don't understand is why each game is called "Final" fantasy when next one is due to be released again next year.

    • Because the first one was meant to be the last game the guy made but it turned out to be very popular.

      Something like that anyway.

    • That's right, the company was almost bankrupt and this was supposed to be their FINAL game, but surprisingly it was very well received and saved the company.

  • +1

    ff X still my fav

  • Game in Hyperdome has 2 PS3 copies left marked as $18 and 2 XBOX360 copies but weren't marked as $18.

  • +1

For anyone who missed out on this deal (including myself :-( )
Just wait a bit and you'll see these showing up on eBay for about $50 each. Same thing happened with the Collector's Edition when it was on special at WOW and GOW3 and GOW Collection when they were on special at Game.
That's usually why these deals run out so quickly…
Silly me, I was actually gonna play the game… lol

    • People must be dumb to buy it off ebay for like 3x the price. As for the piranhas that snatch multiple copies of these good deals and dump them them on ebay at inflated prices, shame on them!

      • Unfortunately there are some unscrupulous people in the world… And the people who buy these games in bulk don't really know what they're worth, that's why when they appear on eBay they'll have the word 'rare' about three times in their name, in the hopes that someone will pay their hugely inflated prices…. I'd rather buy from EB Games than some of the people selling on eBay! lol

      • Not always the case.
I didn't buy the cheap GoW 3 collector's edition but I sold GoW3 after that deal recently came out on eBay.
The buyer even acknowledged that the collector's edition went on sale but he still bought my regular edition because they wanted it now.
That's a better reason than people being 'dumb'.

  • just grabbed a copy from GAME @ Hornsby (NSW) on 360… heaps of copies available…

    • get me one bro. lol.
      i'll check at the parra branch 2morrow, here's hoping…

  • +1

Anyone know if any of the QLD stores still have any in stock?

  • GAME @ Watergardens (VIC) still has around 6 copies as of 8:30 P.M. 28/01/2011

    • Melton store had a few copies left of both PS3 and 360 - I bought the PS3 version as it's one of the rare games which apparently is better on the PS3. Can't see myself ever playing it though, but oh well, I bought it anyway.

  • got 1 today :)
