Poor reason for a neg jv. The rep has 17 posts already and is clearly not spamming if you look at their history.

Edit: Also cheapest I could find was $58 with $20 shipping so looks like a good deal.

I don't look at how many posts a rep has made… i vote it as i see it…

All i see is an advertisement with a price…

there is no mention what the saving is? what the RRP is? what the deal is?

Does the $58 one come with a Casio warranty ???? If so, I know which one i would buy…

what i don't like the most is they don't disclose this information above… it is Not even on the link to purchase the watch, it is hidden away on another section of the website…

very deceptive selling practices…. They should clearly state that the watch is a grey import, a refurb or a fake chinese copy on the front page and clearly state there is NO MANUFACTURER WARRANTY so buyers can make an informed choice

This is $7 cheaper than his price last nov so a + from me.
Was adv on here 20/1 but sold out.

Have you asked yourself why these watches on redbird.com.au only come with a 3 month warranty when Casio G-Shock has a 1 year Manufacturer's Worldwide Limited Warranty ???

      something smells fishy…

I love how they say that ebay sellers probably aren't authorised sellers so the products don't come with manufacturer warranty, but then say they offer their own warranty service for only 1/4 of the manufacturer warranty.

Fishy indeed, or just dodging their warranty obligations under the trade practices act.

JV's neg vote on the basis of warranty concerns is justified.

        • justified indeed and I agree, but it should have gone in the first comment.

I have bought one casio watch from them and 20 G shocks from some other vendors/forum. Funny that the cheapo casio watch from redbird is only 12 off the atomic time after one year. Much more accurate than my other more expensive watches. Anyway this is off topic and what I wanted to say is Redbird watch is cheap but looks new. I don't care it is grey market or refurbish as it is too cheap to even worry about what would happened if it goes wrong.

  • can you put these watches on a nylon/velcro band? I can't make out from the pic if the band it comes with is some kind of proprietry fitting

These watches are what is referred to as Grey Market meaning that we don't buy from the Australian Distributor. The reason for this is that they charge far more than overseas suppliers, so we could never offer prices this good if we didn't. As for the warranty, technically Casio only honour the warranty if the watch is bought from an authorised seller. In Australia that is generally only jewelry shops which charge 3 times the price, so most online watches do not have the manufacturer warranty even if they say they do.

Why do you make comparisons to ebay sellers selling products without manufacturer warranties, if YOUR products don't come with it either? Regardless of the status of the manufacturer warranty, you cannot palm people off after 3 months.

      • The reason we do that is that many ebay sellers claim it has manufacturer warranty when it is invalid, so we state it to make people aware of this fact. A warranty is a hidden cost in a product and a longer warranty means an additional cost, hence higher price to customer. Generally speaking we do honour the warranty even after the 3 month period.

        • +2

You cannot trade away your warranty obligations by reducing your prices.

If the manufacturer sets a 12 month warranty period on their products, it's definitely not acceptable that you are knocking back claims after 3 months. Where you are sourcing your products from is irrelevant and not the problem of the consumer.

It's a hideous looking watch anyway. Can't believe people would actually pay money to buy a watch that looks like it was designed in the 80's.

    • You seem to miss the point of the G-Shock series.
These watches are substance over style.

When Delta Force operators and American Special Forces are exclusively issued Casio G-Shocks as part of official grooming & dress standards and NASA only flight certifies G-Shock watches for space missions, you can be rest assured they are friggin' tough watches that can and will endure anything and still keep ticking.

If you want some ridiculously gaudy, bling-bling piece of junk that screams "look-at-me" (or "free lunch" in the wrong neighbourhood) with gold-plated parts that are marketed as solid 24 carat gold, manufactured by kids in Bangladesh not Swiss technicians, than by all means drop 2-8 grand on a Tissot, Tag Heuer or a Longines and see how fast the faces scratch, the band breaks and the interior condensates due to humidity.

Reduced warranty & non-authorised dealer not disclosed in post (or linked page).

Also, does it come in a proper box?

  • I bought a casio watch from them. Much cheaper than other resellers and no problems for past 15 months.

  • You won't be needing to consult the warranty with a G-Shock folks.

I have a Casio DW-5600E from 1996 that is still ticking after only battery replacement (lasted for 7 years on the factory batteries).
