Probably more for the dedicated Gears fans….considering that the season pass alone is currently over $53 and rarely discounted. The game without the season pass is $24.97. This includes the full game plus the season pass.

In addition, it's a Play Anywhere title so can be played on a Windows PC if your away form your Xbox (can't do that with the disc version) and an enhanced Xbox X title.

If you want to play the base game without the season pass, it's free on Game Pass. You can currently get for $1 with a 1 month subscription or free with a 14 day subscription.

I wouldn’t call the season pass ‘bells and whistles’ as it’s multiplayer stuff only.

Good game that looks great on the X.

Yep, good call. Description now updated.

    • Specifically, the season pass only grants you the ability to play all the maps privately. They are already available in the base game for public play. While speaking of limitations, also note that you can't play versus multiplayer in Australia in public matches, as far as I can tell. I'm guessing you could play it privately but I haven't tested this. So that leaves the campaign, which is OK and Horde which is good fun with the right team. So I wouldn't even pay this much for what looks like a good deal unless you know you'll want to do a lot of private hording in which you case you probably already knew this. So for most people the base game for $25 should suit if GoW's your thing.

  • Yeah just bought game pass and still in the process of downloading gears of war 4 so just did some googling of the season pass. Apparently it’s only to let you use new maps in private games. Base game has all maps in circulation during online matchmaking.

Think I’ll stick with game pass for now but thanks for the deal

      👍

  • The download for me was almost 100 gigs lol.

    My poor Aussie Internet.

    • I currently have a 4tb hard drive plugged in and have just been downloading all game pass games for the last few days…….

      • Is it almost full? I would be curious to know how far it gets you in terms of downloaded games. I can even see the internal 2TB Xbox's get full quickly with Games With Gold and now Game Pass.

        • Nah. Plenty of space so far. Still got a while to go for game pass downloads though. Only downloaded about 500gb so far. Aussie internet. There’s also only a few x enhanced +100gb games though. Most of them are in the 5gb range with newer games in the 20-30gb

        • @cruizerdog:

That's good! Please let me know what the total storage is once you've acquired all games via the Pass. I know that Hants change all the time but would be a good to know.

        • @cheepo: I've got this and all the rest of the gears games, forza series etc and it's 199 games all up on my hdd and still have 120gb left free on my 4tb wd ext hdd. Btw I don't have pass mines just gold. Either way you can store a heap of games on a 4tb hdd.

        • @habib23q:

Thanks for confirming habib23q. I don't have Game Pass either (for now) but like you, have collected quiet a few of the games given away with Gold. It would be convenient to have those and some i have purchased on the console. As suspected though, they probably won't all fit in the internal HDD and an external one is something I'll need to consider at some point.

        • @cheepo: yep. I was gonna say. I’m about 1tb off finishing and it looks like (rough estimate subtracting my other games) it’s just under 3tb.

So taking into account 4tb isn’t actually 4tb. Game pass is about 3/4 of a 4tb hard drive

78GB on XBox One and 93GB on Windows 10 - due to 4K update (for XB1X). Used to be 130GB for Windows 10 version.

If you only want just enough for XBox One/S, then you could consider disable download 4K game content.

      Settings -> System -> Backup & Transfer
      Deselect download 4K game content

      • Good tip for those who need to be hard-drive-space conscious!

  • But yeah it probably would be full if I stayed with Xbox back In the day for games with gold. Unfortunately my purchase history has about a 5 year gap for Xbox live :)

  • Good that OP put GamePass info there.

I think Microsoft needs to do better with PlayAnywhere edition of games. The standard XBox One retail version comes with Gears 1, 2, 3 + other games' voucher codes. Doesn't really feel ultimate when it doesn't include the goodies in the standard retail version.

    • Those voucher codes are now expired

    • The standard XBox One retail version comes with Gears 1, 2, 3 + other games' voucher codes.

That was a preorder bonus back in 2016 for people that paid full price.

Not true. I bought mine (by mistake) last year and it came with the voucher codes and a sheet of stickers. Was $18 or $19… because the game got put in GamePass library.

A deal was posted recently and OP reported he/she was able to claim those games using the codes provided.

Anyway, Gears 1-4 + Ultimate (Gears 1 remake) + Judgement are all in GamePass library now. Pay $1 for a month and play them all.

        • Can also confirm this. I purchased Gears 4 from Target last month ($20) and included the 4 extra codes which worked fine for me.

  • There is Amex offer 20% off.

  • can this be played in windows 10 laptop?

    • Yes, if your Windows 10 laptop has a decent graphics card:

Note that the version in GamePass is also the PlayAnywhere version, which can also be played on a PC.

    • But I've read there are still some show stopping bugs on the PC version. You may want to do some more research before you buy. (I've only played the Xbox version).
