    $479.20 for a HD dashcam? 😕

    • For 2 HD dashcams actually. 2CH model is front and back.

  • OP is this all I would need, or would I need accessories
Also would you know if this is plug n play or would I need a car mechanic to fit things
    Thanks

    • I would budget in $250 - 350 extra for professional hardwire installation.

I have this model dashcam installed. It's very good.

    • Is plug and play, but only to a degree. For a 2ch job you're better off fitting it properly, hardwired. Professional installation should be no more than $200. Don't use a mechanic, better off having it done by a mobile car stereo installer/specialist, as they do them all the time. Where are you based and what car is it for?

If you want it hard wired for it to work in parking mode you'll need a Power Magic Pro. Not sure if it's included in this, if not allow another $60ish.

Personally I'd wait for an Autobarn sale, I got my DR750S-2CH for $419 including the Power Magic Pro from one of the sales not too long ago.

Installation for me was $125 at my local Autobarn with a bonus year warranty since I bought and installed through them. I called around a few places and most of them were well over $200 for installation.

      • Since autobahn is a franchise, do they all price if differently for installation?

      • Ok sounds like a plan
        Wait for an Autobarn sale
        Get in installed by them

We drive a Kia Sorento, SE Melbourne

        I'm assuming that

        1. Hardwiring it won't void any warranty

        2. The dashcam will be transferable to another car if I decide to sell it

        • I called 3 Autobarns and all of their installation prices were different.

1 - It could void warranty if something goes wrong with your cars electricals and they can prove it was the dash cam that caused it. We decided to risk it anyway, so far no issues.

2 - Yes. You can take the camera with you to another car, but you'll obviously need to remove all the wiring.

  • Ive got this same dr 750s 2ch installed & its definitely worth the money as the quality sure is much better than every other dashcam ive seen so far especially during the night. I have another brand new set that i need to sell as i dont need it anymore. In Melbourne, ring up your local autobarn store as they seem to install it for a cheap price as thats where i got mine installed. Hope that helps.

  • I have the dr 650 2ch. It is truly excellent but they are known to break down. I've had the voice and sound on mine die (it went from sounding very croaky and distorted to nothing), I don't like how shipping is at your own expense for in warranty repairs to their centre in Western Australia either. I'm personally waiting until I know I'll be interstate and without my car for a few weeks to send the dashcam off for repairs. But other than that the product is outstanding, getting them professionally wired in and powered even while the car is off is well worth the $200-$300 install.

    • Really? A mate of mine has had 2 cameras and memory cards replaced by Blackvue and they always send the new camera to him first with a return envelope for the old one. He's never had to pay for return shipping.

  • I have this with the Power Magic Pro and 128gb Genuine BlackVue memory card to avoid issues, and Dashcam has been out of action for weeks. I got it from an Australian eBay store but have to deal with Blackbox directly. They've been okay in correspondence so far, and are sending me a 16gb memory card to test stuff out.

But yes, these do break. Another workmate has a 750 and another has a 650 and they're both in for warranty also but they bought them from Strathfield Car Radios so more support.

Whilst it actually works, I think it's really great, app is great and really easy to download videos on your phone and then straight to where ever really. And in this model I got some distance also, so I was often downloading videos from front lounge room when car was parked outside, but it was much slower. But it's basically dead now. =\

Good deal, so a +1 from me. For me since I am not in a rush I am going to wait for another AutoBarn special like this one-

    $419.30 750S-2CH (includes the 30% off deal)
$48.95 Power Magic Pro (Normally $69.95)
    $120 Installation (Normally $100)

    Total 588.25

Hopefully by the time this comes around Ill pickup the 4K 900S-2CH for the 20% discount.

    • Lol that was from my post. With regards to the installation it was $100 at Autobarn Camberwell (VIC) which seems to be very price competitive compared to the other Autobarns.

The 30% off dash cam deals will probably come back later in the year (Nov and Dec).

Funnily enough I entered in the Blackvue comp when I got my 750s-2CH and actually won ANOTHER one lol. It is currently still wrapped up and sitting at my desk gathering dust though as my second car is only worth $500 and there was no point in ‘doubling’ it’s value. 😀
