37% off Standard Rates (from $6.55/Hr + 40c/Km or $74/Day with 150km Inc.) Plus 1st Year M/Ship Fee Waived (Usually $99) @ Goget

150
MASTER

GoGet are offering a special deal through Debit MasterCard Rewards (but available to anyone) to sign up to their GoRewards car share plan. The first year membership fee is waived (usually $99) and rental costs start from $6.55 per hour plus 40c per kilometre or $74 per day with 150 kilometres included. If the special deal doesn't automatically apply, use the promo code "MASTER" on the payment page. I believe this plan only allows for one driver but I could be wrong. Please note that a $100 pre-authorisation will be placed on your card.

The closest plan to compare this deal with would be the GoFrequent plan, which has a $30 per month subscription fee, which gives you rates from $6.35 per hour + $0.40/km or $74/day including 150km but up to 4 drivers can be on the account, with a $25 joining fee per driver and a $250 card pre-authorisation.

  • the day rate seems expensive? cheaper to rent a car from budget?

    • +1

You have to factor in insurance and petrol costs too when renting from Budget and other places. GoGet might be cheaper because it's rates cover everything.

      • car rental involves a bit of forward planning, I wanted to hire something last minute over queens birthday and there was NOTHING at any rentals near me

Goget will not be cheaper but it better for short trips, or needing a car at short notice. it is more expensive for long trips as there is limited kilometers per day.

I do not like the annual fee though.

        another option is carnextdoor

  • What cities do they operate? Just Melbourne? I can't see anything on their website.

  • Thanks OP - had been on the fence with goGet, but this deal is worthwhile for me.

I clicked the referral link to get a random ozBargainer name, then put it in manually through the deal link. So hopefully a Mr A C gets his referral credit.

  • I used GoGet and really liked the convenience associated with it.
-You don't have to wait for a shop to open to pick your car/you can just book and pick it up from the booked location/parking lot at 6 in the morning or 11 at night.
-You know prices are fixed, specially over long weekends when every other car rental service is already booked out and expensive.
-You don't have to pay for fuel - that's a big saver for long trips. Booking it for a day or longer reduces per km extra to $0.25 after your free kms or may be it was my mid tier plan.

  • So if I buy membership (apart form the $100 hold on credit card) on this deal I would not be charged anything for an year except when I rent a car. Correct?

    • Yep - I just did it earlier and it was only $100 holding on the credit card.

There is normally a monthly fee for their other plans.

I'm going to trial it for 12 months, if it's not working out for me I'll just cancel before the membership renews.

      • Great…Thanks for the reply….

  • Pretty useless to me as they are never available near airports

  • Can someone please explain $100 hold? When does the hold get reversed?

    • I found this on the Goget website:

When you join GoGet, a pre-authorisation charge is taken against your credit card to ensure that the payment card is both valid and in credit. This charge may appear as a pending transaction on your internet banking, PayPal account or credit card statement.

The pre-authorisation is temporary and will be released within 4 weeks. The money doesn't ever leave your account, it's just a hold to ensure the credit card is valid and working.

When the pre-authorisation is released, you won't see a credit of the amount going back into your account. Instead, the pending charge disappears and the funds become available to you again.

After this initial 4 week period, every time you make a booking we will check to make sure your card is valid by doing a $1 pre-authorisation. Again, this will be held for 4 weeks and the money won't leave your account. If you make another booking in this 2-week window, we won't check your card again.
