Hey Everyone,
The University of Western Sydney is having its annual O-Week event from Feb 28th - Mar 3rd.
I know one of the events co-ordinators and they are looking for ANY external organisations or business (big or small) to come along and get involved. It’s a great opportunity for businesses to promote themselves to the student demographic and it’s a great event. Pretty much anything you would like to do to promote yourself they will be able to cater for. The more interactive and fun, the better.
They have campuses in:
-Campbelltown
-Parramatta
-Bankstown
-Penrith
-Hawkesbury
Below is a copy of the invitation email they have sent to businesses and organisations. Already they have companies like coke, smiths, student flights, event cinemas, cancer council and many more involved. So if you own your own business or work for one that may be interested contact Brendan, his details are at the bottom of the post.
Thanks.
To whom it may concern,
My name is Brendan Hoey and I am events Co-ordinator with the University of Western Sydney.
The University will be conducting its annual O-Week event on the 28th February – 3rd March 2011.
This event is a 4 day carnival of activities, interactive games, promotional stalls and most importantly, from our students perspectives, freebies.
The University has around 35 – 40,000 students enrolled in 2011 and we use O-week as a way to engage the students and to promote various support services, upcoming activities and events and also to give them a taste of what the next 3-5 years of their studying life will be like. We have rock climbing walls, free fairy floss, jumping castles, street performers, temp tattoos, tarot readings just to name a few things we do for the students.
During O-week we also invite as many external organisations and businesses to come and be a part of O-week as we can. This is done to provide the external companies a great opportunity to promote and market themselves to a captive key demographic (17 – 25 yr olds) and in return all we ask of these companies is that they value add to the student experience in any of 5 ways:
Provide 2,000 – 5,000 physical promotional items / products / product samples, which we can give away in O-week show bags. We will accept any product sample that is close to used by date, product clearance or samples for new or soon to be launched products.
Run a promotional competition that is interactive in some way.
Run a non-competition interactive promotion, which involves some form of game or activity, e.g. an inflatable obstacle course or a dunk tank etc.
Hire a marquee at a cost of $90 per day, per campus + GST in which the organisation can conduct one to one marketing or just hand out flyers etc. If any of the three previous options are chosen the marquee will be provided free of charge.
Or anything else you can come up with that will increase the student experience.
So on behalf of the University I would like to invite you and the team to come and be a part of O-Week 2011.
If you would like to get involved, ask any questions or send us product samples for our O-Week show bags, please feel free to contact me on 0401017490 or at [email protected].
hmmmm it may also be worth letting all clubs and societies know about the day (assuming you dont already have a clubs and society day)
