Rear View Camera Image Flipped

I installed a backup camera,I noticed that the screen is flipped, whats on the right-hand side on the back shows on the left side of the screen and the left shows on the right side of the screen.

Is there a way to flip this?
I am using this one.

How? Now the image is upside down.

  • Ask the seller?

    • I asked him, their reply was " In order to achieve the reverse image. The rearview camera shows mirroring."

      • That’s a bit chinglish. It might just mean ‘the camera shows the image from behind’. If it is to record as a dash cam, you don’t need it flipped.

Dumbos have given you a front camera, or yours might be the case where some reverse cameras have small flyleads on the cable near the camera which can be cut to reverse image and/or add/remove parking lines.

Reverse the polarity on the flux capacitor

    • didn't get it

Is the picture also upside down? :)

    Any settings to play with?

    What does the manual say?

And why haven't you asked the seller this question!?

    • picture not upside down.I asked him, their reply was " In order to achieve the reverse image. The rearview camera shows mirroring."

  • It looks like a dash cam not a reverse camera. Maybe it doesn’t have a ‘flip image’ settting.

      • A rear camera like that will display whatever it is looking at. What you have plugged it into needs to flip the image.

The link in the op mostly talks about a rear camera, not a reverse camera.

As others have said, the image isn't flipped, and you want it flipped because you want to use it as a reverse cam. But it's a dashcam.

    • https://imgur.com/a/cNge9xj iT IS NOT A DASH CAM

      • It might state that it's a reverse cam there, but it could have a non-reverse CMOS sensor in the housing, or just simply a cam intended for forward facing but unintentionally labelled a reverse cam. So many different variables, but generally the norm for cheap Chinese shit.

        • It actually states it is a rear cam, not a reverse cam.

        • @Euphemistic: Same flapping thing.

        • @PinzVidz: It is and it isn’t.

A reversing cam is specifically used as a to watch where you are going when going backwards and needs to mimic a mirror so your brain doesn’t need to flip the image because you are facing forwards and used to looking at mirrors.

A rear cam is for recording what is behind you in addition to what is happening in front of you. It doesn’t need a flipped image, it needs to show what happened behind the car after an incident the way you would look at it.

  • Hi guys had the same issue whilst installing on my W204 mercedes. You need to change the settings on the Head unit. If its an android px3 type unit go to settings about device and type in 8888 its a master code to adjust many settings now you will see a new screen that comes up with many icons like Radio, Vol,
Display, Key, Others. Select others in that look to find camera mirror on off. This is where to make that adjustment. Hope this helps.
