C'mon JV. Try to appreciate sometimes b'coz it gives positive energy ;-)

      It was $1.85 last Wed

      McVities Digestives Biscuits 300-400g, Nibbles 120g or Go Aheads 218g $3.70 $1.85 50%

        I stand corrected…

I still have my receipt. Might go back and claim the difference…

        • +1

don't stand corrected - you're right, they've been $1.69 since last Wednesday when this photo was taken :)

they were going to be $1.85 as per the catalogue deal posted last Monday but then woolworths decided to price match aldi who advertised the previous Wednesday that they were going to have them at $1.69

        • @tonester:

My receipt, dated 7-Jun has them at $1.85

        • @jv:

My receipt, dated 7-Jun has them at $1.85

          I stand corrected.

The McVities on my receipt are the 'Go Ahead' 3pk for $1.85

I retract my original "I stand corrected"

They've been that price since last Wed…

        • I still have my receipt. Might go back and claim the difference…

if they'd been the digestives, then you'd ask for a full refund under the scanning code of practice :)

$1.69 since Wednesday in ALDI not Woolworths.

      • +1

sorry but in woolworths as well - they price-matched aldi :)

        • Ah! Fair enough. Thanks.

        • +1

          @PJC:

          You stand corrected…

        • @jv: And it wasn't even in my horoscope.

  • Mcvities Digestives Biscuits (Was $3.70)

    (Were $3.70)

    • +4

      I stand corrected…

      • +5

You were already correct. Within brackets, you referred to the price, which is and was singular and was $3.70. I've seen Digestives priced at $5.05 in IGA.

        • -1

          you referred to the price

No, then it would have mentioned 'price' in the title.

As it stands, the noun that is relevant here is 'biscuits'

        • +1

@jv: The brackets' content shows price, not product.

    • +1

Then again, one could argue that there is an implied quantifier in front:

A packet of MDB was $3.70

But then again, one could counterargue that it could be plural:

      Packets of MDB were $3.70

      I'll show myself out. ;)

      • -2

        The noun is biscuits

        Show yourself out…

        • Hand in your badge if you paid $1.69 per biscuit. :P

Joking aside, this is why I don't mind either way in such cases especially as the title isn't a well formed sentence anyway. The one mistake nearly everyone makes is in sentences like: There's 3 people to see you. One way to avoid this is to say: 3 people are here to see you.

          /digression

        • @greenpossum:

          per biscuit

          you left out the S

          Mcvities Digestives BiscuitS (Was $3.70)

        • @jv: Added this one as well :D

          HobnobS

        • @jv: So how much did you pay for 2 biscuits? :P

You also missed the other way of fixing it: were $3.70/packet. ;)

        • @greenpossum:

So how much did you pay for 2 biscuits? :P

          I got 27 biscuits. They were $3.70 before Wednesday…

        • @jv: Ate all of them already? Tsk tsk.

        • @greenpossum:

2 per cuppa, 3 cuppas per day… They don't last long.

Go to Aldi everyday price I believe is $1.69
    Got some today.

    • +3

Isn't that a special buy grocery as it's put in the middle front of the store?

      • Yeah, theme seems to be British and South African products at the moment.

    • Only for a week since Wednesday.

  • +1

Yeah, this is definitely a price drop in response to Aldi's latest offerings.

  • +1

they got the HobNobs as well on special….so much yummier than the digestives.

      Mcvities Hobnobs 300g $ 3 00

    • Yeah.. Updated thanks :)

    • Are they also claiming to aid digestion as though that was a problem that people have to cure by eating biscuits?

      • +2

Nah, it's for people who want to digest sugar and fat. ;)

        • +2

          You mean OzBargainers ?

McVitie's Digestives have been baked to perfection with British recipes since we first made The Original Digestive in 1982.

    The correct year is 1892.

    • The correct year is 1892.

Woolworths was founded in 1924 though…

      • Och Aye, McVitie's Digestives existed before Woolworths opened here.

        • That might explain why they didn't sell many here.

        • @jv: Indeed so, Sherlock.

  • Even though I might not buy them that's a great price. Cheaper than the typical "special" price in their UK origin (1 pound) and their 300g packs were sneakily reduced to only 266g.

(Of course we can't compete with the supercheap generic biscuits of Europe - though our canned foods are surprisingly fair these days).

  • Popular? Not popular enough to warrant their own post.. poopular.

  • Thx op, bought 2 Pacs
