Panasonic 7.1kw Rv Cycle Inverter CS/CU-Z71TKR $1240 Shipped (Metro) after $200 Mfr Cash @ Appliance Central eBay

PAMPER20

Post #2…it’s long weekend guys! So I’m having a second go today!

I was looking for an air conditioner to combat Melbourne’s scorching summers. Having seeing so many good deals go by that are only available in QLD with rebates, I was about to get jealous until I saw this combo for the Panasonic ac I was after:

Product: https://www.panasonic.com/au/consumer/air-conditioning-venti…

Action 1. Appliance Central EBay is offering Panasonic 7.1 kw reverse cycle ac for $1822.69. After 20% off eBay code “Pamper20”, this is $1458.15. Link: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Panasonic-7-1KW-AEROReverse-Cycl…

Seeing how conscious we are these days on supplier quality, here’s a link to an Ozzie reviews company which you can use for reference: https://www.productreview.com.au/p/appliance-central.html

Action 2. Panasonic is offering a $200 rebate for this model until 31 July 2018 if you submit a claim on their website. Claims require external ac unit serial # by 21 Aug 2018. The new total after cash back is now $1258.15. Link: https://au.panasonic.com.au/promotions/panasonic-air-conditi…

Reference: line 4 of t’s and c’s. “4. Purchases of Eligible Products must be made between 1 March 2018 and 11:59pm AEST, 31 July 2018 (“Purchase Period”). Claim form submissions including a copy of your proof of purchase must be received by 11:59pm AEST 21 August 2018 (“Claim Period”). Claims with outstanding serial numbers close 11:59pm AEST 21 August 2018.“

Action 3. Cash rewards for Ebay is 1% of the original price of $1822.69. This is $18.23. The final price after eBay discount of 20% and mfr cash back of $200 is $1239.92! After monitoring for a year, this is a good if not the best price for a living room air con of this size by Panasonic shipped. If you have seen better, let me know!

Panasonic, Fujitsu, and Mitsubishi are the three brands I hear air conditioner repairers in Australia mention that are the most reliable. Whilst I have no evidence to verify this claim, I am more inclined to trust this when I am not buying from the repairers and more than 3 repairers say the same from different states QLD, NSW, VIC. Panasonic markets hard on their eco tech where they save more electricity etc, Fujitsu and Mitsubishi all have their own version of it so it’s hard to say which is better. I ended up with Panasonic because I know they have a good quality air purifier and it is the least expensive brand among the three brands I had mentioned. The other two brands are probably just as good as Panasonic but they are less good for my wallet…

Enjoy your day!

  • Mitsubishi heavy industry is the best imo
    Nevertheless great deal

    • What makes it better over panasonic?

    • +1

      The general consensus I have from speaking to many air con installers over the years is along the lines of;

      Daikin / ActronAir -> Mitsubishi Electric / Fujitsu -> Panasonic / Hitachi / Mitsubishi Heavy Industries -> LG / Samsung -> Others

      Also for those unaware, Mitsubishi Electric and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries are actually separate companies and their products come out of different factories.

        Nah, daikin should be last on the list just before the Korean ones. it's OK if it doesn't break but if it does then you'll have fun time replacing parts. And it is unwise to go with them when taking cost into account because of Daikin's preferences toward wholesale and installer driven distribution with very little discount. Installers rank them highly in the list for a reason. Actron air is only good for ducted system.

        • Interesting, my a/c installer also said daikins are the best. But now thinking of it, not really sure why. Which one do you rank first then?

        • I heard about Daikin also being a popular choice. The repairers I spoke to said they do more parts replacement than the brands I mentioned. The only exception was the top of the line (I have not checked to verify what this is) which is apparently different in parts and higher in quality. However, I think this may be ‘perceived’ quality due to the fact that not many people buy the high end models so there is less data to say they observed failures in higher models.

  • QLD government rebates have finished up at start of this month

    • It would not have been suitable for QLD rebate as it has 2 star cooling / 3 Star heating rating.
      It is a far deal however and I am in the market as my LG 7.1Kw has died (again)

    • +1

      Not applicable to this anyway as doesn't meet the efficiency ratings. Also the OP hasn't factored the govt rebate into the pricings so he is probably aware?

      • I have no idea :). Thanks for your info. just saw the model listed for rebate but perhaps that was the 2.5kw at the time as I was also after a smaller unit for the bedroom.

  • would this cover a 15x7 meter room??
    If not what would be good for it?

  • Anyone know what the outdoor sound level is for this?

    We need a ac unit that is under 54dBa.

    • In the website link, there is a pdf of specs on page 8.

      Outdoor high/Low sound pressure in units dba is measured by the mfr as 54/49. No difference between heating and cooling. There is also a measurement for sound power which is higher but I don’t know if that is relevant to your query.
